One of my heroes is gone. Not only was Chuck Norris an incredible martial artist, but also a genuinely decent guy.
The world is a sadder place today.
Chuck Norris, martial arts master and actor whose toughness became internet lore, dies at 86
Chuck Norris, the martial arts grandmaster and action star, has died in what his family described as a “sudden passing.”

To: IKL BOGs, RDs, Dojo Senseis,
Plans are in the making to build the Japanese Cultural Center of Kona. 50 acres have been purchased, located on the Mauka side of highway 11, in Kailua-Kona, across the street from the Mormon Temple that is currently under construction. See attached plans.
Walter Kunitake, of Kona, one of the key organizers in this endeavor, has contacted me and other martial art Senseis, for input on the building of the Dojo (see upper right corner in plans).
Little background: I met Walter over a year ago when he was at a meeting with then Mayor Mitch ROTH, at the Arthur Greenwell Park in Captain Cook. Sensei Jenna and I were teaching Karate at Yano Hall (Captain Cook Dojo) next door and Mayor ROTH stopped by to say Hi. Walter took this brief opportunity to introduce himself and requested a meeting with me at a later time to discuss this subject. This is a follow-up since that first meeting.
He has scheduled this follow-up meeting and site visit for this Friday (1-9-26), at 8 am. He told me I could invite other martial artists to this meeting.
Meet at the gate on the highway. 4WD vehicle is necessary. We can car pool, but you must be on time bc we will lock the gate after everyone arrives. Call me if you are running late. If you cannot make this meeting, more are being scheduled. This meeting should run about two hours, about 8-10:30 am. This is undeveloped land so dress appropriately with good hiking type shoes. Sorry for the short notice, but he just called me yesterday. Mahalo.
Oss!
Shiroma Hanshi
Hedges-Sensei's Edit:
I may get in trouble for this, but the correct name is "Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints". "Mormon" is a derogatory term.
