John Bolliger's Creative Artistry In Custom Rifles

01/16/2026

Got out this morning for a little 22lr ammo shootout. Rifle shoots great and boy does that beautiful walnut sing to me in the sunshine. So blessed to be able to enjoy my creations before sending them off to their new home. Everyone have a great weekend. GO BRONCOS!!

Had an old piece of scrap Home Depot lumber laying around and thought I would build another 22 Long Rifle......

Everybody loves the beauty of a gorgeous custom wood stocked rifle. Sometimes depending on the hunt that type of rifle may not be ideal. Years ago I took composite stocked rifles to the next level and started building my own stocks similar to the design of my wood guns. Some of the features that they both share is the shadow line cheekpiece, palm swell, custom grip caps, a variety of super grade style sling swivels, beautiful sharp stock lines, and an attention to detail in every aspect in and out. Several rifles attached. Which one do you think looks best?

My favorite part of rifle making is working up a load and getting to shoot them for my clients. Another tack driving 375 H&H. Barnes 300 grain TSX 3 shot group measuring .322"

Check out this piece of Hawaiian Koa. That wood has such warmth and depth in person.

One of my favorite builds in recent years. Customer requested very cool checkering pattern on a spectacular piece of Turkish Walnut. Defiance Rebel action, Swarovski Z8i scope, and my favorite all time caliber the 28 Nosler. Don't tell my client but I seriously need to keep it for myself.....

Just finished this 300 Win Mag for a great client. Nontypical bead blasted stainless steel metalwork in a great piece of Turkish Walnut. Rifle definitely has a lot of visual pop! Looking forward to seeing how she shoots. Thanks for looking.

Just completed this fun an unusual 30-06 double rifle for a great friend. Too bad I had to use such an ugly piece of wood!

Absolutely love building these little rimfires. This one chambered in 22LR. Kimber Mod 22 receiver, Krieger barrel, and a beautiful piece of Turkish Walnut. Best part is I get to shoot it tomorrow!

Recently completed this matched pair of rifles for a clients wife and daughter. They were built on consecutive serial numbered Wi******er model 70 receivers, wood blanks that were cut side by side out of a 200+ year old black walnut tree, exquisite matching engraving with colored diamonds inlayed in the gold crosses to match their birth stone colors. Had a blast building these rifles for great friends and awesome clients.
