On the memorial day of my teacher’s passing, I offer profound gratitude and deep bows to all that Sensei T. K. Chiba gave me and so many others. Not only teaching aikido, but being my first zen teacher, he always pushed me to go further. Because of his work in the United States and elsewhere, many of us are fortunate enough to continue to study his teachings. This photo is of Cormac- Kate’s and my son- with Sensei. This picture shows another side of Sensei many may have missed- his deep compassion! Thank you also to all my seniors and colleagues who continue Sensei’s work.
