A student once asked me how I know which movements heal which body parts.
It was a good question because I was explaining to her how certain pelvic movements are related to neck health.
Seemingly unrelated body parts.
When taking a holistic approach to the Pilates method and the human body, I realized that I came to this understanding from 3 focuses.
1) Anatomy: Focusing on the anatomy and the truth of the human body in relationship to healthy potentials for movement and the fascial trains (Anatomy Trains).
2) Self-practice: As well as being on my mat 30 minutes to 2 hours daily and feeling those connections for myself.
3) Pray First: I pray before each session and ask God which movements would be most beneficial and most healing for my students.
The combination of science, the study of human anatomy, intuition, prayer, and practice gives me insight into pain relief and rehabilitation using Pilates for healing the human body.
