This past weekends clean up / maintenance day was truly disappointing. You would think that a club with over 300 members more than 6 members would show up to help maintain the facilities. As a result of the lack of participation the Rifle/Pistol ranges will be closed at least through next weekend when I would hope some additional members will show up to help finish the repairs. That is if the weather cooperates.

The Rifle and Pistol ranges are closed until further notice. NO EXCEPTIONS!! They are unsafe at this time. We will let you know when they are back open. Sorry for the inconvience.

Don't forgot to come out this weekend and help us keep the Club looking great!!

The PBGC will be having the Spring cleanup days April 11th and 12th. The days will consist of typical lawn type maintenance to make it easier on the mowers (other club volunteers) to navigate the grounds this summer. We will be cleaning up the ranges and berms to make the club more usable and more presentable. Work usually starts around 8:30 and please bring your own landscaping type hand tools.

If anyone has the ability to bring a tractor with a 10' disc or a 5-6' roto tiller, they would be very useful as we reconstruct some washed areas for replanting grass. Please coordinate these implements with Tim Heuiser 573-429-0394 if you're able to provide your services so we don't get more than needed.

The Poplar Bluff Gun Club will hold the annual meeting Tuesday, February 24th at 6:00pm. The meeting will be held at the clubhouse.

The dues for the PBGC are now due. The members at the annual meeting voted to raise dues to $120 to keep up with rising prices. Additionally, our new insurance carrier is requiring we collect signed liability waivers from all members. Please return the waiver with your payment. As always, we plan to change the locks November 1st.

2025 Poplar Bluff Gun Club Spring s***t League

• League will start April 15th runs thru May 29th
• We will shoot on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
After 3:30
• Two boxes a week
• You provide your ammo and rounds with no additional cost to shoot the league
• Scores will be posted each week
• Score sheets available at the pavilion
• Come on out and have some fun shooting s***t.
• Added bird handicap system:
• 50 targets per week for 6 weeks.
• Week one the raw score is the average. Subsequent weeks a running average of the previous weeks.
• Your weekly handicap is 80% of the difference between your average and a perfect score. That percentage is then added to your raw score for that day to determine your score for that week.
• Your handicap score for the week cannot exceed 49. To get 50 you must shoot a 50.
• Fractions of percentages are used but no handicap score will be higher than 49.
• Your handicap score will be carried to two decimal places as it is possible the winner will be determined by hundredths of a target after 6 weeks.
• Example: Bill shoots a 43 on the first week of league. His average is 43, The difference between 43 and 50 is 7. Bill’s handicap is 7 x 80% = 5.6. Bill’s league score for that week would be (43+5.6) 48.6. Next week Bill shoots a 41, his average is now (43+41) 84 divided by 2 = 42. The difference between 42 and 50 is 8, 8 x 80% = 6.4. Bill’s league score for the second week would be 41 + 6.4 = 47.4. On the third week of league Bill shoots a 46. His average is now (43 + 41 + 46) 130 divided by 3 = 43.3. His handicap is (50 – 43.3) 6.7 x 80% = 5.36. Bill’s league score for week 3 would be 49 even though Bill’s raw score of 46 plus handicap of 5.36 would equal 51.36. Remember the only way to get a 50 is to shoot a 50.
