Congratulations to Bryce Goodale (‘29) as he’s been named Milestat XC “Performer of the Week!”

The Woodside XC Invitational produced a first-place 5K finish in 17:42.70, 86.6 seconds ahead of the next-closest runner among 30 finishers. That clocking stands No. 103 of 1,630 athletes in MileSplit’s database at Newport News Park since 2019, a 292.2-second improvement on this course from a previous time of 22:34.90.

Message from Coach Zimmerman:

“To accommodate participation in the off-season with fall sports currently going on, we’re changing this up somewhat. We will have open practice at Firth Field on Saturday mornings from 9am - 11am starting on SEPTEMBER 19th.

This will be open to all 8th - 12th graders who plan on trying out for the 2027 season. We will continue while the weather stays good enough for us to be outside. During the week, you can focus on strength and conditioning with Coach Dani at Poquoson High School.”

Congratulations to Coach Zack Baker as he takes advantage of an awesome opportunity to coach at the collegiate level. He joins Virginia Peninsula Community College’s baseball staff as the infielders and strength & conditioning coach.

As this is a volunteer coaching opportunity, at this time, he will continue to work with Poquoson Baseball, especially keeping up with the social media responsibilities.

Dan Sperling (‘26) ends his high school career with a hug from Coach Zimmerman at the “All-Tidewater Classic” game last month in Norfolk.

Dan will be continuing his academic and baseball career at Bridgewater College next year.
