We have some December birthdays coming up! Birthday shenanigans for Renee Nittoli Hoffer David Hoffer Aaron myself and I believe Stephen Sanders.....we are trying to see if we can compose a weekend eve to get everyone together for a little meet up. I will be celebrating each weekend....but if we can see who's in and which weekend and maybe get a majority vote that would be great. If there are other December bdays feel free to add yourself! We'll see how this goes.

How about that!

To win the game of fitness, you need to build a combinaton of physical and mental skills.

Most people put all their time into trying to build their body in the gym, but don't spend any time trying to work on their mental game.

This is a mistake that holds a lot of people back.

In many ways, it's your mental skillset often limits your ability to build the physical side.

The good news is that all three of the major mental skills you need, self-awareness, self-restraint, and self-motivation are all qualities that can be trained and developed over time. if you work on them.

Building all of these mental skills is absolutely essential to not just reaching your fitness goals, whatever they may be, but in being able to sustain a healthy lifestyle over time.

An investment in developing the mental side of the fitness game is one that will always pay off.

The Impacts of Too Much Stress:

There is an optimal level of stress we need in our lives. Too little stress leaves untapped potential. Too much stress has serious health consequences.

Without mental health, there can be no true physical health.

Stress is a common risk factor for 75 to 90% of disease.

High levels of chronic stress make one 50% more likely to suffer from metabolic syndrome.

The effect of stress on our physiology mimics that of depression.

Stress Management Takeaways:

Monitor your stress levels and realize when you are having a stress response.

Change what is changeable: fitness, diet, sleep, outlook, relaxation methods.

Physical activity reverses many of the negative effects arising from stress.

A healthy diet supports mental well-being.

Establish a sound sleep practice.

Have scheduled relaxation time, such as meditation or a relaxing hobby.
