It's that time of year again! Who's ready to paddle?

2021 SEASON UPDATE:

OPENING DAY: Port Clinton - Saturday May 15th, 2021! It’s hard to believe that we are heading into our 6th season! We have been gearing up and getting ready! We are looking forward to the weather breaking and getting the boats in the water. The season officially kicks off on Saturday May 15th in Port Clinton. We will be open 7 days a week all summer long from 10am -8 pm. Our Oak Harbor location opening day is tentatively set to open Memorial Day Weekend and we will run 7 days a week as well through Labor Day Weekend. Some things we are working on adding this year (hopefully sometime in June):

Axe Throwing: Axe throwing is exploding in popularity and we have decided to extend our outdoor adventure by building an outdoor axe throwing range! We believe this is a great fit for our business. This sport is fun for all ages (10 and up), a great workout, and a positive way to release energy and stress. Come see us on the range in June! This will only be available at the Port Clinton location. You may remember our Nigerian Dwarf goats from last year, Nug & Riptide. Well they love to suit up in their shark fin life jackets and go paddleboarding on our giant Paddleship! Starting in June you will have the opportunity to go out with them on a guided 1 hour paddle! This will be by reservation only and extremely limited to once per day as to not over work them. Booking will be done on our website once available. Also only available at our Port Clinton store. Many of our special events will be back again this year such as our popular full moon paddles, sunset & smores paddles, kid's night, fireworks & glow stick paddle, and more all in the works! Keep an eye out on the page and website as we start to post the event details. Anyway, if you could share this post for us to help spread the word, we would greatly appreciate it! We can't wait to see you on the river! Paddle On,

Bryan, Amanda, Gavin, Vayda, Vylet, Ivy, Rivers & Crew

🍂🛶 Somehow, this weekend puts us halfway through September.

Seriously… where did summer go?

Labor Day is behind us, the kids are back in school, Oak Harbor is closed for the season, footballs on TV, and things have gotten a whole lot quieter around here.

But we’re still here in Port Clinton.

We’ll keep putting kayaks, canoes and paddleboards on the Portage River 7 days a week for as long as Mother Nature lets us.

Today may be a little gray and undecided, but there’s still plenty of paddling season left — and September can give us some of the most peaceful days of the entire year.

So don’t put summer completely away just yet. 🍂☀️

There are still memories to make on the river.

🛶 WE’RE BACK!

Two days to recharge, spend some time with the family, and have a little fun… and today we’re back at it in Port Clinton!

Labor Day may be behind us, but paddling season isn’t over yet.

September can bring some of the most peaceful days of the entire year on the Portage River — fewer crowds, beautiful weather, and plenty of summer still hanging on.

We’ll be here 7 days a week for as long as Mother Nature allows. 🛶☀️

And speaking of hanging onto summer…

🧘‍♀️🌊 Our FINAL SUP Yoga with Kylie of the season is THIS SUNDAY from 9–11 AM!

One last peaceful Sunday morning on the water before we put SUP Yoga to bed for another year.

Get yourself signed up and come finish the season with us.

🇺🇸🛶 HAPPY LABOR DAY!

One chapter of our summer officially closed yesterday as we wrapped up the season in Oak Harbor…

But we’re not done yet in Port Clinton, not for a while.

Today is Labor Day — the unofficial last day of summer — and if there was ever a day to ignore the chores, put down the phone, grab the family and squeeze one more memory out of summer… this is it.

Kayaks. Canoes. Paddleboards. Gem mining. Animals. Ice cream. Fresh air. A few hours where nobody has to be anywhere else.

Summer always seems endless when it begins.

Then suddenly, you’re standing here wondering where the heck it went.

So don’t give it up quite yet. ❤️

We’re OPEN in Port Clinton today. Come spend part of your Labor Day with our family on the Portage River.

🇺🇸 Happy Labor Day from all of us at Portage River Paddling Co.!

🛶❤️ This is it. One final day in Oak Harbor.

Today we close the doors on another season at our Oak Harbor location.

But before we do, there’s something I need to say.

I’m incredibly proud of my kids.

This year, Oak Harbor was theirs.

They opened it. They ran the trips. They took care of customers. They handled the equipment, the work, the problems, the long days and all the little things nobody sees that go into keeping a place running.

They ran that entire location by themselves all season long!

As a dad, that means more to me than whatever numbers we put on a spreadsheet at the end of the year.

We started this business as a family, and watching my kids become capable enough to take a piece of it and make it their own has been one of the things I’m most proud of.

This is how old they were when we started this business

So today is a little bittersweet.

One more day of kayaks going out.

One more day on the Portage River.

One more day for the kids to open the doors in Oak Harbor and do what they’ve done all summer.

If you’ve been meaning to make an Oak Harbor trip this year, today is the day.

And to my kids:

You did good. Really darn good. Dad’s proud of you. ❤️

Let’s finish this season strong.

🛶 And then there were TWO.

Just two days left at our Oak Harbor location for the 2026 season.

Today & tomorrow.

It’s always a strange feeling when we get to this weekend. We spend months waiting for summer to arrive… and somehow, in what feels like the blink of an eye, we’re putting another season in the books.

A whole lot of kayaks have left that little launch over the years.

First dates. Family days. Kids in kayaks for the first time. Old friends floating down the river. People who have been coming back to see us year after year.

That’s what makes these last couple days feel a little different.

So if you’ve been saying “we still need to do an Oak Harbor trip this summer…”

This is it.

Two days. Two more chances to paddle the Portage River with us from Oak Harbor. ❤️🛶

Come make one more summer memory with us.

⛈️➡️🌤️ Well… THAT took long enough. 😂

After Mother Nature pretty much washed out the entire day, the storms have finally moved through, the skies are clearing, and we’re OPEN for evening paddling! 🛶🌊

If you’ve been stuck inside watching it rain all day, come salvage the evening with us. There’s still plenty of daylight left and the river is waiting.

And just like that, we’ve made it to Labor Day Weekend — one of those weekends that always feels a little bittersweet around here. Summer went ridiculously fast.

So here’s to squeezing a little more out of it. More paddles. More sunsets. More time outside. More memories before fall takes over.

🇺🇸 Happy Labor Day Weekend from our family at Portage River Paddling Co.!

Now get out of the house. You’ve been in there long enough. 😂🛶

☀️🌊 BEAT THE HEAT ON THE WATER!

September apparently forgot it was supposed to start cooling down. 😂

It’s going to be a HOT one today — which sounds like a pretty good excuse to grab a kayak, canoe or paddleboard and spend a few hours on the Portage River.

There’s just something better about a hot summer day when there’s water underneath you, a paddle in your hands, and nowhere you need to be for a while.

Come cool off with us today. 🛶🌊

Summer isn’t done yet — and neither are we.

🛶 Just 5 days left in Oak Harbor.

That’s a little hard for us to believe.

Another summer on the Portage River is winding down, and our Oak Harbor location has just five operating days left this season.

Today. Tomorrow. And next Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

We’ve launched a whole lot of kayaks from this little spot over the years. Families, first-time paddlers, familiar faces that come back every summer, and plenty of people who discovered just how beautiful the Portage River is from this side of town.

Seasons go fast.

Sometimes faster than you realize.

So if an Oak Harbor river trip has been sitting on your summer list, don’t keep saying “one of these weekends.”

There are only five of them left. ❤️🛶

Come see us in Oak Harbor before we close out the 2026 season.

🌕 73 people. 83 with the crew. 68 boats. One incredible Sturgeon Moon.

We really don’t know what else to say about tonight except… WOW.

73 of you joined us on the Portage River tonight, and once again, Mother Nature absolutely delivered.

We watched that enormous red Sturgeon Moon slowly climb out from behind the trees, surrounded by kayaks, glow sticks, friends, families, and a whole lot of people who decided not to spend another summer night sitting at home.

This is why we do these.

Not just for the paddle. Not just for the moon.

For nights like this that you’ll remember long after summer is gone.

To every single one of the 73 people who spent tonight on the river with us — thank you. You made this one special. ❤️

And to everyone who almost came but didn’t…

Yeah. You probably should’ve. 😉🌕🛶
