💥 STRAINS AND SPRAINS 💥

⚡️What is a strain?: is a stretched or torn muscle or tendon.

⚡️What is a tendon?: tissues that connect muscle to bone.

⚡️Most common strain areas: back, neck and hamstring muscles and tendons.

🔥What is a sprain?: is a stretched or torn ligament.

🔥What is a ligament?: Tissue that connect bones at a joint.

🔥Most common sprain areas: knee, ankle and wrist.

❗️How can this injuries happen? Falling, twisting, or getting hit can all cause a sprain. Twisting or pulling these tissues can cause a strain.

🚨 Symptoms: Symptoms for a sprain can include pain, swelling, bruising, and being unable to move your joint. Symptoms for a strain can include pain, muscle spasms, swelling, and trouble moving the muscle.

⚡️INTEGUMENTARY SYSTEM⚡️

👉🏼 WHAT IS IT?

The ingument is an alternative name for skin and skin derivatives (hair, nails and glands).

👉🏼 FUNCTIONS:

• Regulation of body temperature.
• Protection of foreign bodies.
• Sensory stimulation.
• Vitamin D synthesis.
• Removal of waste by sweat.

👉🏼 WHAT IS IT MADE OF?:

• The integumentary system makes 16% of the bodyweight.
• The skin has 3 layers:
- Epidermis (superficial part)
- Dermis (intermediate part)
- Hypodermis (internal part)
• With the skin, we can also find the accessory structures.

👉🏼 HOW TO PROTECT THE SYSTEM?:
• Protection from the sun.
• Hidrate the skin.
• Healthy diet and lifestyle.
• Physical activity.
• Avoid stress.

👉🏼 SKIN CANCER:
• Skin cancer is caused by excessive exposition to the UV rays of the sun damaging the DNA of the cells of the skin.

👉🏼 HOW TO REDUCE RISK OF CANCER:
• Use sun protection: sunblock, sunglasses, hats, shirts with long sleeves.
• Apply sunblock 30 minutes before sun exposure and reapply it every 2 hours.
• Avoid high levels of UV rays.
• Avoid long exposure time.
