Hello POKR community! From time to time here on the POKR retreat page, we will be posting knitterly related things that we think will be of general interest.

Coming up this Saturday, April 11, is the sixth annual Knit for Food knit-a-thon. Knit for Food is a 12-hour knitting marathon to raise funds for hunger and food insecurity. 100% of all donations will be divided equally between Feeding America, World Central Kitchen, No Kid Hungry, and Meals on Wheels. Thank you again to these amazing individuals who generously donated door prizes or their time and talent to creating the lovely raffle shawls. We are so grateful to you for your continuing support of POKR!

An update on our POKR shawl raffles: the final tally was a total of $270 for the benefit of Heifer International and Firwood Farm Alpacas & Rescue! Here's another look at the lovely shawls ❤️🩶❤️🩶 Congratulations again to Boni Russell (the winner of the red shawl raffle) and Kathi Gose (the winner of the gray shawl raffle)!

The red shawl was knit by the talented Ruth Ann Hanks - the pattern is the Kyler Shawl by Isabel Kraemer and knit with Elmer Tweed from The Lamb & Kid. The gray shawl was gifted to POKR by Doris Martin and the pattern is a lovely mystery ❤️🩶❤️🩶

We're sharing because many of our wonderful door prize donors are part of the PNW Yarn Crawl. Please consider attending the crawl and thanking our donors personally for their longstanding support of the Port Orchard Knitters' Retreat! One of the beneficiaries of our shawl raffles, Firwood Farm & Alpaca Rescue, is also a part of the crawl.

Thank you again to the Allyn Knit Shop & Spinning Supply, The Artful Ewe, Heart2Heart Knitting & Fiber Arts, LaMercerie, and The Lamb & Kid!! We are so grateful for your generosity!! We will be doing individual shop features here in the next week or so (because we are HUGE fans of our local yarn stores!), but we wanted to do an extra shout out so that you can plan for the PNW Yarn Crawl!

What can we say, POKR community?!?! You blew our socks off!!! We are so grateful to each and every one of you who joined us on Saturday, March 21! We couldn't do this without you 💚💚💚 There are more pictures to come soon -- including the shawl raffles and a general photo album (we're still playing a bit of catch-up behind the scenes). Thank YOU for making POKR 2026 a retreat to remember!

Happy Friday, fiber friends! We are just ONE MORE SLEEP away from POKR 2026 on Saturday, March 21 🧶🧶🧶 A quick reminder that we've changed our venue this year (so please don't go to the old one 🙏). POKR 2026 is being held at the Church of the Nazarene, 4647 Sidney Road SW, Port Orchard, WA. Keep an eye out for the big green sandwich board at the driveway entrance pointing the way ➡️➡️➡️

Only TWO MORE SLEEPS until POKR, fiber friends!! We know we are overdue for introducing ourselves and we thought we should get that done before Saturday (March 21) so you can put our names to our faces. Melissa, Doris, Kathy, and I (Rebecca) are so excited for the retreat this year and we can't wait to see each and every one of you!
