CHANCE GAINER: Celebration of Life
MONDAY
Monday will be a day for us (Port St. Joe High School in particular) to internalize and reflect on the life of Chance Gainer. Grief Counselors and Teachers will be onsite and prepared to support students and staff throughout the day/week.
Chance Gainer’s mother and aunts have been part of the school food service professionals operating the Port St. Joe Elementary Lunchroom for many years. Hungry Howie’s has donated pizzas for the Port St. Joe Elementary School’s lunch for Monday. (This will allow the family staff members time to grieve together.) The Port St. Joe Elementary PTO will be on site to serve the pizzas.
TUESDAY
All Gulf District Schools will be closed for students Tuesday. Teachers and staff will report as scheduled.
Port St. Joe High School is planning an open luncheon for the Shark Football teammates of Chance Gainer. Initial plans were to include Liberty County and Blountstown football teams to come together for a time of support and healing. However, because of the tremendous show of love and support from other area schools we have expanded this special event to welcome other area varsity football teams and coaches.
This multi-team camaraderie and luncheon will take place Tuesday at the Port St. Joe High School Commons Area and Gymnasium from approximately 10:00 A. M. (ET) to 1:00 PM (ET).
Lunch will be prepared and provided by Hunt’s Restaurant for all student athletes and coaches in attendance.
WEDNESDAY - THURSDAY
School will resume its regular schedule Wednesday – Friday.
Grief Counselors and Staff will be available as necessary for any student or staff member needing support.
FRIDAY
The home football game between Port St. Joe and Blountstown scheduled for Friday night has been postponed until a later date. (TBA)
SATURDAY
Final plans for Chance’s Celebration of Life have not been confirmed yet. However, the Gainer Family has reached out to request the use of the Port St. Joe High School Gymnasium for the Celebration, and we are honored to accommodate the family. Again, plans are tentative at this point, but for planning purposes, the family is looking to have the Celebration this coming weekend.

I have to admit when i first saw this picture on the news, I was a little upset they didn’t place me in the picture in my suit and tie, but now I have to absolutely admit, I’m not a suit and tie guy.
I’m a guy that wears hats, sunglasses, usually a T-shirt, and doesn’t mind getting in the middle of things. Hard work and dedication has always been who I am. It’s how I was raised and how many of yall were raised.
I humbly ask for your vote on over before August 20. I’m
ready!!

A native of Gulf County, and a graduate of Port St. Joe High School, Daniel’s roots are also tightly knitted in the fabric of Bay County, with the Raffield family extending back to the early 1900’s fishing village of Farmdale (on what is now Tyndall AFB).
Daniel has been working since the age of 12, starting his humble beginnings working on a commercial fishing boat and his family’s fishery, and while his last name is synonymous with the commercial fishing industry, he is a working class-man for the people, having thrived in a career in sales for over 20 years and now working in real estate as a licensed Florida REALTOR. He has held sales and sales management positions in Bay County while providing for his family. The diversity of his career has given him insight into the issues of infrastructure, economy, commercial and residential development, and quality of life in Bay County.
As a resident of Bay County, Daniel believes the future is bright and while tourism in Bay County is important, so are locals and the needs and concerns of ALL Bay County tax-paying citizens FIRST. The need for proper infrastructure, especially post-Hurricane Michael, is vital to the growth and sustainability of our county.
“A better quality of life is vital to our future, for our children who attend school here, and will eventually live and work here with their own families. Our children are our number one resource.” says Raffield.
Daniel is committed to being an accessible public servant to everyone and being an active listener to each person who lives and works in Bay County. His most significant desire in wanting to run for political office is to be a person elected by the people, FOR the people, who is ready to listen and work for YOU!
Daniel, and his wife Danielle have been married for 14 years and reside in the Hiland Park community and have two daughters, age 10 and 23.
