Carrot cake muffins with a cream cheese filling and streusel.
Episode four of Les Made It.

Took a few rounds to get the recipe exactly where I wanted it and this is it. Greek yogurt, pumpkin puree, fresh carrots, cream cheese center, streusel on top. Tastes like the real thing.

187 calories and 10 grams of protein per muffin. Not a health food, not a diet food. Just a treat that actually fits.

A lot of people have trained themselves to back off the second something feels uncomfortable. Hard conversation? Avoid it. New opportunity? Too risky. Business idea? Maybe later. So they stay where they are because at least it’s familiar.

Training teaches you to stay in it a little longer instead of immediately folding the second things get hard. This kind of mindset bleeds into everything.

Happy Mother’s Day to the mom who had a slightly different perspective than the 3 girls he was left to raise alone.

Dad you are Mr. Mom, you are Dad, a best friend and our biggest cheerleader and mightiest protector. You were always there for us growing up and trust me managing 3 girls who are social and don’t stop comes with many of its own challenges that you can’t even begin to imagine. and we didn’t always make it easy and he never gave up! He never left, he has always been there. Happy Mother’s Day dad. I love having you as my mom ❣️ and happy Mother’s Day to the dads who had no choice but to also be the mom, especially if you had girls to raise. And happy Mother’s Day to all moms. You are so special to this world.

I have been wanting to make these for weeks and I finally just did it.🥟

It started with the bacon chicken fried rice I make every week and Tyler offhandedly saying I should try using cabbage as a filling. I honestly wasn’t sure about it at first. I’m not a huge Chinese food person, I never have been. Tyler is. He would eat it every week if I let him pick the restaurant. We usually end up at sushi because that’s what we can both get behind.

But these spring rolls I would eat every single week. I already have. Three times since I filmed this.

calling the basics boring is one of the most convenient lies you can tell yourself because it lets you skip them without feeling like you quit. you just decided you were past it, that you needed something more advanced, and the results still aren’t there.

you do this thing where you decide something is too simple to be the answer before you ever actually give it a real shot. so you spend months, sometimes years, jumping from one thing to the next. new program, different macros, something you haven’t tried yet. and the whole time the thing that was actually going to move the needle is just sitting there waiting for you to stop overlooking it.

here’s what I know from actually coaching real women through real life. the ones who get there are not the ones who found the perfect plan. they’re the ones who got tired of starting over and just kept going with the unglamorous stuff.

they didn’t overhaul their life. they just stopped treating the basics like a placeholder until something better came along and let it stack. same meals, same gym days, same boring routine until their body had no choice but to respond.

sleep. water. protein. steps. the gym. not sexy, not special. just the thing that actually works every single time someone stops waiting and actually does it.

Flip the box over before you grab it. If the fat grams are higher than the protein grams it is not a high protein meal, I don’t care what the front says. That’s the only rule you need for this aisle.

The Banquet Meat Lovers bowl says 30 grams of protein. It has 43 grams of fat. Fat has 9 calories per gram, protein has 4. That means 387 of the 550 calories in that bowl are coming from fat and only 120 are coming from protein. The front of the box is lying to you with math you weren’t taught to check.

The Kodiak Maple Pancake Sandwich. 20 grams of protein, 23 grams of fat, 390 calories. More than half the calories are from fat. I like Kodiak. The label doesn’t care.

The bettergoods High Protein Breakfast Bowl is where I have to be honest because I was harder on this one than the numbers deserve. The fat is actually fine at 11 grams. The real issue is 16 grams of protein is not high protein for a full meal and 59 grams of carbs are running the whole thing. But this bowl is fixable. Add 3 to 4 ounces of London broil and you go from 16 grams of protein to nearly 50. London broil is one of the leanest cuts you can buy, it reheats fast, and the fat barely moves. Egg whites or cottage cheese work too. The bowl is a base, not a meal.

The Jimmy Dean Classic Bowl has 40 grams of protein and 31 grams of fat. 60% of the calories are from fat. The box says that covers 80% of your daily protein needs. For who. Not for you.

The Jimmy Dean Delights Turkey Sausage Egg White Muffin is the most balanced thing I picked up. 18 grams of protein, 8 grams of fat, 270 calories. Eat two and you’re at 36 grams of protein, 16 grams of fat, 540 calories. Not perfect but it’s the most honest label in that aisle.
