Hi SWSC Families,
Thanks to the almost 300 players who are already registered. Thanks also to our many coaches/assistants who have also registered. We really appreciate your help. If you are planning to volunteer or play but have not already registered, it will really help us if you could register as soon as you can.
Our regular registration period for players in Grades 2-8 ends soon on Sunday, February 16. After that, placement on teams will be on a space-available basis only. We have a more limited number of fields available in the spring so our flexibility is reduced to place players.
Regular registration for our Microsoccer players (Kindergarten-1st grade) ends on March 9. Note that kids who turned 5 anytime in 2024 are eligible to play in our microsoccer program in the spring, even if they did not enter kindergarten in the fall.
The season will run from March 31-May 17 for all players through 8th grade. There is no High School program in the spring. Register by clicking any of the “Register Now” buttons on our website or directly at this registration link. We are using the same registration program (Sports Connect) as we did in the fall.
Coaches and Assistants – please use the same link above to register. We would love to see you return for the spring. Note that if you completed the SafeSport and Concussion training anytime after February 1, 2024, you will not need to repeat it for the Spring season.
The league will be managed by the Tualatin Hills Junior Soccer League so will be like our fall season. Because we have access to fewer fields in the spring, players on Grades 2-8 teams will practice once/week (either 5-6:30 or 6:30-8) beginning immediately after Spring Break (March 31) and play 6 games between April 5 and May 17. Microsoccer players will continue twice/week from 5:15-6:15 – exact days and location will be determined once we get our field allocations from THPRD in February. Their season will start with a jamboree on April 3 and finish their season on May 15.
Registration fees for the spring are $55.00 for microsoccer players and $85.00 for the older players.
Microsoccer players will receive a t-shirt or jersey for the season. Returning players can use the jersey they purchased for a previous season. New players should purchase a jersey (and socks if desired) at Tursis, our local soccer shop. More information can be found on our Uniforms webpage.
If finances are a problem for your family, please let us know and we’ll provide registration instructions. We ask that you first work with THPRD and their family assistance program to cover the registration fee. If this is not possible, we do have club scholarships available. Please email the registrar at [email protected] to request a scholarship.
If you have any questions, please email Jan at [email protected]. For MicroSoccer (K/1st grade) questions, please email Jenn, our Microsoccer coordinator at [email protected]. For coaching questions, please contact Stu, our head coach at [email protected].
Thanks much and we hope to see you on the fields for the Spring season.

Many thanks to our many coaches and players who have already registered for the fall. We look forward to seeing everyone back on the field in August.
If you have not already registered, please do so soon. Regular registration for the Fall season for Grades 2-8 ends soon on Sunday, June 23. After this date, placement on teams is on a space-available basis. Please register as soon as possible if you are planning on playing this fall on a Grade 2 – Grade 8 team.
Regular registration for Microsoccer (Kindergarten-Grade 1) and the High School Recreational program ends on August 1. To register, click any of the Register Now links on our website or go directly to this information page and click the registration link at the bottom of the page.
For more information, please see the Registration pages on our website for each program.
Coaches/Assistants: If you can help and have not already registered, please register as soon as possible as we will start putting our draft teams in place the last week in June. If you have any questions, please let our head coach know (email [email protected]). We offer coach training and mentoring - it is a great experience and we would love to have you join our SWSC family.
For registration questions, please email Jan at [email protected]. For microsoccer questions, please contact Jenn at [email protected].
Thanks much!

My house is always open. I’d rather talk to you at 4:44 in the morning than talk at your funeral. Nothing worse than losing a friend because they didn't think they had anyone to talk to. Phone always on, door always open and a tea & coffee can be poured. 👌Support each other. I need eight people to post this message to show you are always there when someone needs you. I have an idea who's going to write "done". 💚

Western States Center is deeply grieved by the violence currently unfolding in Israel and the Palestinian Territories, and especially by the killings of Moshe Ohayon and his son Eliad in Ofakim, a town near the Gazan border. Moshe was the chairman of the board of Shaharit, one of our primary partners in the region, and a dear friend to Western States Center. Shaharit shares WSC’s commitment to common good politics and finding strength in diversity. They have given generously of their time and talents on each WSC visit. Our hearts go out to Moshe’s family and to the Shaharit community, as well as to all the victims of these attacks and to the many people who have and will continue to suffer as this conflict enters a new stage.
We have visited Israel and the Palestinian Territories with our board, staff, fellows and partners many times over the course of our work to counter the divisive impacts of antisemitism on American democracy, hosted each time in part by the Shaharit team. We know that histories of extraordinary injustice, pain, and violence define every facet of this conflict. We are moved with compassion for Palestinians who have suffered a violent, repressive, and cruel occupation for 75 years at the hands of the state of Israel and much of the developed world, including the United States. We are also profoundly grieved for the Israelis who seek peace and co-existence with their Palestinian neighbors, and for Jews around the world for whom the land of Israel remains a symbol of hope and security in a world that has perpetrated exile and death upon their people for centuries upon centuries.
We know that any time the Israeli-Palestinian conflict makes the news, incidents of antisemitic, anti-Arab, and anti-Muslim rhetoric and bigotry surge. As an organization whose mission and vision is centered on strengthening inclusive democracy, including justice and equity for all, we urge all who are concerned with these events to denounce violence and explicitly reject antisemitism and racism, as well as the politics of isolation, exclusion, and dehumanizing cruelty that accompany these bigotries.
We continue to hold out hope for a just and democratic society for the Israeli and Palestinian peoples, and a world free from bigotry and fear for us all.
With grief and hope,
Amy Herzfeld-Copple, Executive Director
Megan Black, Common Good Program Director
