MEET THE CAPTAINS‼️📣

Tyler, affectionately named the Flame of the West, has been playing for the Lumberjacks since 2017! Playing Prop and Number 8, you will see him plowing through defenses and tearing up the pitch in our forward pack!

“The Lumberjacks helped me find my confidence, trust my abilities, resilience, and strength that comes from passion and determination. I always try to tell people who are new to the team or new to rugby that you are stronger and more capable than you think. Q***r people are often ostracized from participating in contact sports. We’re told to not be too much, too loud, or too aggressive. Rugby is a tough sport, and here, with the Lumberjacks, you can be aggressive, you can take up space and you get to hit people! It’s not easy, it’s really hard. But if you put in the work, it’s worth all the aches and pains”.

MEET THE CAPTAINS‼️📣

Sergio has been playing for the Lumberjacks since 2016! As one of our very powerful backs, you will see him on the pitch playing at scrum-half or wing, Serge is always looking to push our players to grow.

“[Through the Lumberjacks] I learned how to work with a sports team, as I had always done individual contributor sports (running, swimming, etc). It taught me discipline, how to navigate and help the team grow during uncertain times, camaraderie, and the power of friendship. [My advice for folks], it’s okay to be afraid of getting tackled, but don’t let that stop you from wanting to learn and grow”.

Many ruggers will tell you that. 2025 has been tough for our community, but beyond our sport just teaching intensity and strength, it also teaches unity and power of community. Improvement comes from teamwork and support. Two words echo constantly on and off the pitch; With You.

Going into 2026, we're committed to strengthening our bonds with our teammates and supporters, but also continuing our trajectory of growth in our club, as we make the most of celebrating our 10th year of being a club. Get ready 2026, the Portland Lumberjacks are swinging our axes powerfully and can’t wait to show you our fullest potential as Oregon’s only IGR All-Inclusive club!

While we had a great lil break, our fun is far from done this year, as many of us travel south to test our rugby prowess. Wish our Jacks luck on our travels!
