Tomorrow morning from 7:30-8:30am is our first weekly community paddle of the season!
Every summer (June-August) we host a weekly group paddle for sea kayakers. These one-hour sessions are a chance for local paddlers to get on the water. It’s free to join if you bring your own sea kayak, or if you’re a Portland Paddle member, otherwise you can rent a sea kayak from us!
**These paddles are led by our staff, who are happy to share their knowledge, but these are not guided trips and you should not join if you need instruction or assistance in order to participate. Please consider taking one of our lessons or joining a tour if you are new to sea kayaking.

Be careful out there paddlers. Always dress for the water temp and wear your lifejacket!
"Spring might have finally arrived in Maine, but inland and coastal waters are still dangerously frigid.
On a single day in May, the state saw two paddling deaths, one a sea kayaker near Deer Isle and the other a paddleboarder on Graham Lake in Ellsworth. Lindsey Chasteen, a spokesperson for the state medical examiner’s office, said cold water could have been a factor, but she was unable to definitely say whether the temperature had an impact in those cases. Officials said they believe neither person was wearing a life jacket."
The sun might be shining, but Maine’s waters are still dangerously cold
The state's lakes, ponds and coastal waters are still in the 40s or low 50s.
