Once again this Thursday at 630pm. The lady two sessions went deep into building our sound foundations. The sincere exploration of the classic Vedic songs opens the wind energy and we can sing freely in the spirit of the devotional bhajam jam. Later, we render Bowie, Leonard Cohen and Dylan choral covers. I always have a great time. Off next week.

From the beginning I meet so many of the best yogis at night. Not everyone functions at the crack of dawn, people have jobs and lives- the night yoga is what brought so many in- it’s a different practice. Come see Sam and Bob to explore yoga in the waning light of spring evenings at Near East Yoga. Saturday’s Too!!

There is often an abundance of undiscovered layers remaining to be revealed to the individual dedicated to a life of yoga practice. None more elusive than pranayama which is mainly due to not having either the dedication or the support to remain consistent. This is where tapas and sangha and sadhana or effort, cohort and practice can take us past a threshold we have not yet explored. Pranayama is not “breath work” and this recognition is rooted in the classical supports related in the Raja Yoga of Patanjali and Hatha Pradipika of Svatvarama. Pranayama is not the end goal either- it’s the vehicle for authentic and lasting pratyahara called dharana. What comes after, with and throughout, becoming effortless dhyana and samadhi likely don’t happen without this potent piece of work. If you are sincerely interested in learning and experiencing more for yourself send me a DM and we can have a conversation about what the process looks like and how you can get established and remain stable in this experience.
