This past weekend we celebrated International Women’s Day, while simultaneously, honoring and giving recognition to the lost women within the Native communities. These handprints are a symbol of the movement, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW), & we wanted to take part in raising awareness as Indigenous women are murdered at 10x higher rates than the national average. Making it the 3rd leading cause of deaths among Indigenous relatives.
We’d also like to pay our respects to Emily Pike, a young Apache woman from the San Carlos Apache Reservation, who was only 14 years old when she went missing but ultimately found in a horrific state.
Please say her name. Share her name. She and her family deserve justice.
