What a weekend for the SF girls down In Birmingham. Did we have the outcome we wanted? We did not but we did go down and give it a shot to see where we needed to grow compared to some of the best around.
Going 0-5 to some is considered a complete failure but to us it’s growth. We had moments where we looked like we didn’t belong there at all but we also had moments where we looked like the best team in the park and competed with the best of the best.

Saturday was a pretty rough day on both sides of the ball. We struggled defensively and in the box and couldn’t seem to get in a groove at all. There were no bad pitchers, walks were minimal, you either hit or got sent back to the dugout and that makes it tough at this age. The 3rd game of the day we did compete very well against one of the best teams in the SE and held them to minimal runs and scored 1 of our own which wasn’t an easy task considering they only allowed 6 runs all weekend long.

We went into Sunday being the last seed playing the A class Thunderbolts Premier and our expectations wasn’t very high. We watched them beat a very good team 28-0 on Saturday and completely crush the ball. We got together and made a plan and they executed it perfectly. We didn’t let the girls know we were the underdogs and told them to give it their all and that’s exactly what they did. We ended up losing 7-4 but we competed with them as good as any team in the park did and that’s something to be very proud of. The hit off some great pitchers and our pitchers did their jobs on defense.

To say this weekend was a success would look wild to those who only check the score. But to the ones there watching our girls work, compete, overcome, and never give up they know exactly why the word success can be used to describe it. We have a very talented group of young ladies and with a few minor adjustments and little more experience we are gonna be hard to handle for anyone in the opposing dugout. Until then we will continue to work and expose ourselves to the best we can find.

This weekend we’ll be in Nashville facing great competition once again and can’t wait to get back on the field with our girls! 🧡💙🤍

Pool Play brackets are set and our girls are geared up and ready to head south to face some of the toughest teams in the South East this coming weekend.

With what will surly be the toughest tournament of the season for our girls they are ready for the challenge and to see where we stand among the best of the best early on so we can see exactly what we need to work on to compete next spring.

With that being said we’ve been working extremely hard to make sure we don’t go down without a fight. With a lineup of talented pitchers and a great defense behind them combined with a group of girls that aren’t scared to stand in the box and hit the ball we expect to be a challenge against any team that takes the field against us.

Wish these girls luck and show them some support as they do what they’ve always done and chased their goals in a big way finding the best to compete against.
Win or lose they are going to give it their all and come back tougher and stronger than when they left!! 💙🤍🧡

🟠🔵NEW PLAYER ALERT🔵🟠

Sometimes a player makes it impossible not to notice the way she shows up, puts in the work, and earns her opportunity.

For #8 Brynlee Colenda, that’s exactly what happened. 💙🧡

Over the last several weeks, Brynlee has shown up. And then she showed up again. Every practice. Every scrimmage. Every opportunity to get better. She has worked alongside our girls, listened, learned, and consistently shown a dedication to growing her game. Not because she was guaranteed anything, but simply because she wanted to put in the work and become a better player.

This weekend, Brynlee picked up with Southern Force for our tournament and gave us one more chance to see exactly what she’s been showing us all along. She’s coachable, hardworking, a great teammate, and she wants to get better. That’s exactly the kind of player we want wearing Southern Force across her chest.

But if you’ve been anywhere near our dugout lately, you already know we’re not just gaining Brynlee. We’re gaining a family that has been in the stands cheering just as loudly for every single Southern Force girl as they have for their own. They’ve supported this team wholeheartedly before it was ever officially theirs and that says a whole lot about the kind of people they are.

So this announcement feels a little different because, truthfully, Brynlee and her family have already felt like part of the SoFo family for a while.

Now we just get to make it official.

Welcome to Southern Force, #8 Brynlee Colenda. Your hard work, dedication, attitude, and willingness to keep showing up has earned you that jersey, and we couldn’t be happier to have you and your family officially on this ride with us.

We could not have asked for a better way to start this season. 🧡💙

5-0. Undefeated. Tournament Champions.

But what made this weekend special was so much bigger than the record.

These girls played with confidence and aggression from the very first pitch. They attacked in the box, our pitchers competed all day, the defense made plays behind them, and every girl found a way to contribute. There was no waiting around for someone else to make something happen. They trusted each other, backed each other up, and played like one team from start to finish.

And they did it in 90+ degree heat all day long. No excuses. No letting up. Just grit, energy, and a whole lot of heart.

The part we may be most proud of, though, was everything happening outside the lines. Our stands felt like a family. Parents were cheering for everyone else’s kid just as loudly, if not louder, than their own. Every hit, every strikeout, every catch, every run felt like it belonged to all of us.

That’s the kind of team culture we want to build.

First tournament of the season and these girls showed us exactly what they’re capable of when they play for each other.

Southern Force 5-0 and CHAMPIONS. 🏆🥎

Couldn’t be more proud of this group. And we’re just getting started.

These girls have worked SO hard for this moment. 💙🧡

They’ve put in the hours, pushed through the tough practices, learned to trust each other, and kept showing up ready to get better. We are so proud of the work they’ve put in and the team they’re becoming.

Now it’s finally time for their FIRST 9U TOURNAMENT and we cannot wait to watch them step on that field, compete hard, have fun, and absolutely CRUSH IT in Chapel Hill this weekend 🥎🔥
