The Drunken Masters are saddened by the tragic loss of the Gaudreau brothers to a drunk driver. Please remember, driving under the influence is NOT Masterful.

Our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, whose lives ended way too soon. Words cannot appropriately express the sorrow the hockey community is feeling today.

Now that the Vancouver Canucks have been eliminated from Stanley Cup contention, Drunken Masters are proud to announce that Brock Boeser will be joining our Division 4 roster for the summer session. Welcome, Brock! I was gonna remind you to try to score fewer than six goals per game, but nobody else in Div4 seems to mind doing that, so fire away!

We haven't posted much lately. That will change, our social media team will start paying a bit more attention. Our fans demand it.

Our relatively new additions to the Drunken Masters family, Wade, Evan, Dakota and Nick have all fit into our squad like sexy sexy gloves. We love having them on the team. DM are 2-1 in the new Spring season, looking to get back to a championship. Wish us luck!

Third year in a row! I think that makes it a tradition. Snowy and cold today, but so much fun.

As we come to an end of February as well as concluding National Heart Month, we want to share a positive story and the importance of learning CPR.

Earlier this month, Division Chief Steve Black was getting ready to play hockey at the Sherwood Ice Arena, something he does every week with a recreational adult hockey league. While getting ready for the game in the locker room, a teammate of his came in and said someone was having a heart attack while the current game was taking place. When Steve made it to the ice rink, the patients’ teammates had already started CPR and were working on getting an onsite AED. Steve, his teammates as well as the patients’ teammates performed CPR, usage of the AED and worked on a plan to get the patient off the ice and to a safer area to continue CPR. They were able to get a large table, place the patient on it and slid them off the ice, all while still performing CPR. At this time, crews from Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue, Metro West Ambulance-Hillsboro and Sherwood Police Department arrived and took over care of the patient.

Steve recently found out good news from other teammates, the patient they performed CPR on had been released from the hospital and is on the road to recovery. This is a real-life example of the importance of knowing CPR and having no warning when you’ll need to perform CPR on someone.

Here is a video to learn out to perform Hands Only CPR: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4ACYp75mjU
