Kids BJJ fam, get your costumes ready! Tomorrow, Saturday, October 31st, we’re turning the mats into Halloween headquarters.

Hot take: this gym isn’t really about fighting. 🤝

Sure, we train hard. But ask anyone here why they keep coming back, and you’ll hear the same answer: the people.

Here’s an old-school armlock inspired by one of the most mysterious creatures in the Star Wars universe: the Dianoga, the creature lurking in the trash compactor. 🐙

I like to use this armlock from closed guard when I can’t break my opponent’s posture or they’ve got a strong grip on my lapel.

It’s more than just an armlock setup. It’s a trap that opens up:
🔹 Triangle chokes
🔹 Omoplatas
🔹 Sweeps like the scissor sweep

Just like the Dianoga, once you lock this grip in, it’s strong and hard to escape. Your opponent’s instinct is to extend their arm to break free, and that’s exactly when you catch them in the submission. 😈

The answer? Both of them. 🤯

These two 13-year-olds have been training for just over three weeks, and they’re already drilling a standing guillotine defense into a Von Flue choke like it’s second nature.

I always tell people Jiu-Jitsu is like a language. When you learn it young, it doesn’t just stick. It becomes part of you. The movements flow more naturally, the instincts develop faster, and the game grows with them.

That’s why so many of today’s world champions are in their early 20s and have been training since they were kids.

Nothing makes me prouder than watching young students fall in love with this art and seeing their excitement turn into real skill, class after class. 🥋🔥
