Our 12U girls showed up big time at the CCGSA End-of-Season Tournament! Out of 15 teams, we battled our way to the championship game!

✅ Beat Happy Valley in Game 1
🔥 Upset the #1 seed Corbett in Game 2
🏆 Fought hard in the finals against another strong Happy Valley team

Our young 12U squad learned a lot- special shout out to the 9- and 10-year-olds stepping up like pros! Couldn’t be prouder of this gritty, fearless group. 💙💛

Rounding out our Warrior Walk-Off series: Tobias McCormick

Tobias has played 8 years with CYBS, bringing energy and leadership to the centerfield and pitching mound alike. His most meaningful memory? Hitting a home run in his first at bat after recovering from a broken foot—a comeback moment that speaks volumes about his resilience.

Inspired by Aaron Judge, Tobias admires his leadership and carries that mindset to the field. His biggest area of growth this season has been his confidence at the plate, thanks in large part to positive, encouraging coaching that helped him believe in himself.

Tobias is off to Cleveland High School, where he plans to keep that momentum going for .

Next up in our Warrior Walk-Off series is Leighton Hopp!

Leighton has been a Cleveland Youth Softball player for over 8 years, starting way back in tee ball and playing all the way through 8th grade. Her favorite positions are third base and left field—both spots where her glove and arm have made a big impact.

One of her most memorable moments? Hitting a grand slam during her baseball days—an unforgettable highlight! She’s always looked up to Felix Hernandez, who made his MLB debut as a teenager and went on to throw a perfect game—an inspiration for chasing greatness from a young age.

Leighton says the part of her game that’s grown the most is tracking the ball in the outfield, and she carries with her a key piece of advice from her coaches: Play not only for yourself, but also for your team.

She’ll be heading to Cleveland High School this fall and plans to continue her softball journey there.

Leading off our next Warrior Walk-Off: Rex Wacker

Rex has been a fixture in Cleveland Youth Baseball & Softball for an incredible 11 years—a true CYBS veteran. Known for his strong glove at third base, Rex demonstrated great growth on the defensive side, especially in fielding. Simple hitting advice from a coach, “Keep your hands back”, was a game-changer that helped spur Rex’s success.

Rex will head to La Salle High School this fall, continuing his baseball journey with .

Now up to the plate in our Warrior Walk-off celebration- William Pernsteiner!

William has been a part of CYBS for 6 years and made his mark as a steady and reliable presence at first base. Inspired by the legendary Willie Mays, William brought passion and heart to every inning he played.

One of his most memorable moments came when he was called to the mound and pitched the final five minutes of a game, collecting three clutch outs to seal the win. That confidence has carried over to his hitting—an area of his game where he’s especially proud to have grown. A coach’s tip about timing at the plate helped unlock his swing and elevate his game to the next level.

Next year, William is headed to Central Catholic , where he plans to keep playing the game he loves.

Stepping up next in our 2025 Warrior Walk-Off class is a catcher with a big heart and strong work ethic—Hollis Lott.

Over 5 seasons with CYBS, Hollis became a leader behind the plate and a teammate everyone wanted in the dugout. For Hollis, the friendships and tournaments were what made it all so memorable.

He’s made major strides in his catching game and perfecting his batting stance, impressing us with his perseverance and grit.

Next year, Hollis is headed to Damascus Christian School .
