Parents!
We have a series of the Learn To Lead class for you all. This is the time to get experience belaying (and climbing) so that you and your child can continue to develop as climbers together! It can also serve to help deepen your experiences as a climber! Read below for more information!
What: In this Learn to Lead class for the parents/guardians of Team Texas and Team Movement athletes, participants will learn the essential techniques necessary to lead climb and belay in the gym. These classes are 2 sessions, 1 week apart. Session 1 focuses on Lead Climb/Belay basics and Fall stations. Day 2 is for Live Practice and following up on belaying climbers of different sizes.
Who: Parents of youth athletes looking to lead belay (and lead climb!)
When: May 20 & 27, June 17 & 24, August 26 & September 2
Why this is important: Team Texas has had a history of dominance in no small part of our ability to try hard on lead. The importance of each of our athletes, and our parents, in learning how to navigate Lead Climb and Belay is vital to having a long runway to developing their lead climbing skills.
Come learn how to Lead Climb and Belay and ask any questions about belaying for youth athletes!

Summer short trip chaperones announced! We are super thrilled that alumna Insiyaah Tinwala will be joining us to help keep the TTX trip traditions alive! Parents with varying levels of experience from “first time ever climbing” to “20+ years” from all area teams met up at Carrollton this last Sunday to get coached by Lawrence and Merritt and hang out and have fun climbing together—without kids around to judge our skills! We got to experience projecting on hard (for us!) boulders (modified just for us—thanks !) and learned what our kids feel training in our amazing TC. We learned how important our hips are in movement. The Foundation provided a lovely spread of snacks and drinks and we are already begging Lawrence to do it again! I’m pretty sure next time we won’t get out of doing spray wall you guys!

2025 USA Climbing Youth Nationals ✔️
The sport of rock climbing is absolutely more than just about competing and winning, but proudly representing our team at a national level and bringing home some new hardware for our competitors and decor for our Training Center sure feels good, too.
THANK YOU to our tireless Team Texas coaches — Niko Romero, Matt Dendy, Henry Davis, and Merritt Ernsberger — who put in countless hours from sunrise to well-past sunset over the course of a week supporting our athletes at every step, to our fellow teammates who packed both halves of the gym (oftentimes running back and forth between climbs!) to cheer on their teammates, to those at home who watched the livestreams with bated breath, and to the parents who got their kids when and where they needed to be and volunteered for shifts to make the event happen. It took all of us, and we did it!
