Wrapping up our last week in Portland, and the Portland Press Herald did a short article on our closing.

I’m overwhelmed by the support I have received the past few weeks. MSU’s brick-and-mortar location might close but we will host community events in the future & I can’t wait to hang with you all you once again!

Maine Surfers Union is closing after 13 years on March 15. We opened our coffee bar in 2021 & were selling all of our coffee equipment & refrigerators. Below is a list of items for sale. MSU stands in solidarity with the immigrant community & everyone who has been affected by ICE & continues to be affected by ICE.

Please understand it’s hard for a small business to decide to close their doors. A lot of us are feeling the pressure of the increase cost going up all around us.

A few say it’s only one day. But when it’s a Friday in January & we all are operating in the red. It’s more than just one day for us.

Lots of small businesses are struggling & corporations are hitting goals & netting higher amounts each quarter.

Unfortunately the truth is MSU can’t afford to close on a day that helps us pay our bills & rent.

MSU will be donating 25% of our sales today to Maine Needs.

Please refrain from guilt tripping businesses into thinking they shouldn’t be open. I have talked to a lot of business owners the past few days & they have been scared of the very community that supports them staying open. This is not ok. This is not how we win.

I’ll leave you with the motto my son & I say everyday I walk him to school. - Be Kind, Be Respectful & Help Others.
