Operating as usual
Hello Badminton Club Members!
Due to covid we have decided to not host active club hours this fall term. However we will still be posting technique and conditioning tips every week in our story!
We will re-evaluate the option of active club hours for winter term but for now it is not a viable option.
If you have any questions or concerns feel free to reach out to us on any of our socials or at [email protected]!
Club hours for the remainder of the term are cancelled. We will be following PSU and Campus Rec polices in regards to COVID-19 going into spring term and will post updates via social media and email.
Please be mindful of others and yourself in these next few weeks. Don’t forget to follow CDC hand washing techniques and health procedures.
If you have any questions you may message us on our social media platforms or via email at [email protected].
We hope you have a fun spring break and well deserved rest from school!
We are continuing regular practice hours for the remainder of winter term. We will send out further updates via email and social media depending on any changes in PSU's approach to COVID-19.
Some precautions we are taking is sanitizing equipment before and after practice. We encourage you to bring and use your own rackets if you have them. We will also encourage to limit contact, for example just saying good game to the people you're playing with instead of high fives.
We are taking a break from practice during spring break. However, you are more than welcome to go to the Rec Center and play during Rec Center drop in hours or on your own time.
Stay safe out there! Don't panic or be afraid but take precautions and remember to practice good hygiene. Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap after touching your face, other people, and high-touch surfaces. Use hand sanitizer when you can't wash your hands. Clean and disinfectant your personal belongings and your surroundings. Stay home when you experience cold or flu symptoms and wear a mask if you can't stay home. Even though we are not the vulnerable population it is important to respect others and help stop this virus from spreading.
Please email or message us with any questions!
Practice is cancelled 2/11 and 2/13. We will resume normal practice hours next week.
In the meantime we are hosting a tournament with University of Portland this Saturday from 3-7pm on the middle courts. Come out and support your teammates!

Meet Darya, one of our presidents! “Hello!! My name is Darya and I'm co-president of the badminton club! I have been in the badminton club and playing badminton for 2 years. This is my third year. I am still a beginner badminton player but I really enjoy learning, training, and playing badminton. In school I am a Business Administration Major with a Management and Leadership focus. Outside of school and badminton I spend time in church, chilling with family, and laying around. I also enjoy hiking and one of my favorite hikes is Vista Ridge. I'm excited to meet you and play badminton together this year!”
Say hi to our Graphic Design Coordinator! “Hi my name is Michael and I'm a 5th year student studying graphic design looking forward to the day I can graduate! I'm currently an officer for the club and my favorite badminton tactic is to aim for the neck. Sorry but I'm in it to win it.”
Meet Social Media officer Beth! “This is my second year at PSU and the club. I love being a part of the club and PSU campus! I’m also a marketing major and am involved in PSU TV and the kickboxing club. Badminton is always fun to play and the people are great!
Former club president Naureen is back as one of our awesome coaches! During her three years with the club Naureen also graduated from PSU in 2019 with a degree in Marketing and International Business. “Badminton is honestly one of my favorite sports to play casually or competitively. I feel it is highly underrated. I enjoy the varying styles that people bring to the table when they play badminton. During my time playing with the Portland State Badminton Recreation Club, I have met so many great people from all over and has made me feel more a part of the Portland State community as well as getting some exercise in.”
