The American Council on Exercise has long been a leader in providing high-level, science-informed education for fitness professionals.
They have informed public policy, at the highest levels, and set the bar for integrity and professionalism in an industry that has not always celebrated those qualities.
I'm proud to be a member of the ACE Scientific Advisory Panel as we move toward giving evidence-based and sound health and exercise information on social media.
There is SO much mis- and disinformation in social media around health and wellbeing, and it's increasing in both volume and absurdity. It has truly become a public health crisis.

I'm reminded by yesterday's Wellbeing Think Tank Summit how important in-person gatherings are.
They build real connection and promote presence. They are ideal for learning and connecting disparate ideas and approaches.
The keynote speaker Paul J. Zak, a renowned neuroscience researcher, spoke on the practices and behaviors that lead to true happiness.
Purpose and connection are among those keys, and this conference helped reinforce the former and expand the latter.
Great job Chase Sterling and the whole team.

See this month's ACE Certified for an interview I gave on the obesity management medications.
It's a complex, and potentially harmful, thing mixing medications for weight loss with fitness culture. But at the same time they could launch millions of people on the path of movement for health and happiness.
It's very much about how approach this.
I address these thoughts and more in this interview. And you can get ACE CE credit too!

There's a nice series of no-cost webinars at for weight stigma awareness week.
Today I'm attending
The Injustice of Anti-fatness: A Diagnosis
Weight Stigma In Children and Adolescents
The fitness industry has played a role in how we view fatness and people with obesity, and there seems to be a serious animus toward them... and fat itself.
The result is sizeism and healthism, which harms people and harms the industry.
We absolutely can teach movement without demonizing fatness, and will need to shift our attitude if we want to work with people taking the weight loss medications.
Exercise, even without weight loss, is still healthy.
