Marathon Monday
Oh baby do I wish I was out there. I really thought I would be going back this year to redeem myself after last years painful hobble to the finish but obviously with my injury I could not have possibly done that.
I know life redirects us for a reason so I am focused on recovery right now and grateful for my short runs but I really do hope to get back out there again on this magical day.
I still remember the pain of that last half but that was the day I changed as an athlete. I learned how to push through really hard things but also listen to my body. I had to really slow down to get to the finish and for that I was proud.
It is fun to look back on these memories.
I could look back and remember the disappointment and pain I felt that day but honestly the first thing I think of is my strength and how I was surrounded by all the people I love.
Running and racing is about more than just a time. Although I went in with a time goal that I didn’t hit, I walked away with so much mire.
I am excited to hopefully get the opportunity to run the Boston Marathon again one day but for now I will keep trotting my 20-25 mins🥲

Quick Fix!
I posted a bowl with quick fix in my story last night and got a few DMs asking what it is so I thought I’d do a post about it!
It is basically a protein mug cake but can be used in so many different ways. It comes in a powder and you mix it with water. You can just microwave/bake it for a quick mug cake or cook it in a waffle maker to make waffles, make it into pancakes in a skillet, mix it into oatmeal, add less water and roll it into protein balls, etc! It is so versatile and each bag has 20-25g of protein per bag and 1g of sugar or less depending on which flavor you choose. Right now they have brownie, birthday cake and pumpkin!
I mixed mine with water and then added a few spoonfuls of brookie dough and microwaved it for 90 seconds. Topped it with granola for a little crunch. 👩🏼🍳💋
Let me know if you have tried it!! And if you haven’t, you should! And add blondies to your cart while you’re at it 😉

Update!!
Little update since I have been pretty mia on here. I have missed posting and engaging with you all on here because I really love this little community I have built but I have just been super busy in the best ways so had to put social media on the back burner for a bit. But things are really good! I’m really happy and content even through the craziness of life lately lol.
I’ll be in and out these next couple weeks because I’m 10 days I’m gonna be a wife!!😳🥰
I have been back in Maryland prepping for the wedding and I try to just be really present when I’m with my family since I live so far away.
I am also back in the full swing of training which feels really good! Finally feeling like myself again on runs and I get giddy just thinking about it. Thank you and .kolbeck for getting me healthy again! My next race will be the Chicago Marathon on October 9.
My fiancé and I will be relocating in the next couple months as well which has been keeping us busy but excited 👀
What have you all been up to? Update me in the comments below 💛 I hope you are doing well!!

Hey Insta friends 👋
I have been a little MIA. I’ll be honest, coming back from my injury I was in a weird head space. I found myself getting caught in the comparison trap and just getting down on myself.
So instead of reverting back to old habits, I decided to just get off the app for a bit and remind myself of the bad b I am 😏 Haha kidding, kind of.
Just a reminder that everyBODY is different and that is what makes us all so beautifully unique.
Healthy looks different for everyone.
Happy looks different for everyone.
Just a reminder to stay in your own lane and focus on you.
I look/feel different in different seasons of my training and just life in general and that is healthy!!
I won’t always feel 100%. I struggle too.
But I am finally feeling like myself again. And I love this app for a creative outlet and a place to share things I love. I love this little community I’ve built.
So I’m back and just wanted to say hi and remind you that no matter what you see on this highlight reel, we are all human and we all struggle in some way or another. But for every down, there is an up. Control what you can control. We got this.
💛

🎂🎉
Something tells me this is going to be my best year yet! This past year was full of many ups and downs. Mostly ups and lessons learned from the downs. I truly cannot wait for this next year. Thank you all for always supporting me and giving me an outlet to share some of the things I love 💛 You all rock!!
On the agenda for today- Miles, smiles, latte’s, ice cream and a massage 🥰

I feel like the universe has been testing me lately.
“When it rains it pours,” feels very accurate these days but something I am proud of is my attitude through it all.
I don’t really want to go into much detail but I had that nagging foot injury and then got pretty sick which had me out longer. Then my face started breaking out BAD from the stress which then turned into like raw skin?? So then I just had a big open wound on my face which did not feel great.
Being out from consistent running for almost 2 months was hard. Running is something that truly makes me feel my most me. It is when I feel the most alive. In the past, when I was out from running I would go to a dark place.. Of course I have had days where I feel sad about everything going on but for the most part I have stayed happy and positive through it all and for that I am proud.
One thing I have told myself these past few weeks is to just keep showing up however I can on that day. Some days that was simply getting out of bed and moving down to the couch. Then other days that was getting a short run in and then working from the couch the rest of the day.
I think it is important to share the not so glamorous parts of my journey and these past couple months have been tough but things are looking up. I am FINALLY feeling like myself again and pretty close to 100%.
If you take anything from this, let it be this- There will be really good days and really bad days but try to keep showing up in whatever capacity you can on that day. Tomorrow is a new day and things will go back up eventually so just take it day by day💛

“Run when you can, walk when you have to, crawl if you must; just never give up” -
My mom sent me this quote yesterday and it made me smile🥹 It made me think of the Boston Marathon. Although it didn’t go as I had hoped/planned for, my goal turned into not stopping and this truly was my mentality. As runners we know it will hurt.
Especially when we line up for a marathon.
No matter if it’s a good day or bad day, I will never give up.
