If you own a kayak, canoe, or other small non-motorized vessel, please help the Coast Guard and River Patrol by labeling your craft and securing it when not in use. Every unmanned boat found on waterways starts a complicated search and rescue process. A simple "If found please call ____" could save patrols many hours of fruitless searches and help get your boat back to you sooner.

The Oregon Department of State Lands (DSL) needs your feedback regarding a proposed rule. DSL is proposing to restrict recreational access, and to prohibit camping, at several spots along the Columbia. These spots include the north side of Hayden Island, North Portland Harbor, and the Sandy River Delta. A full description of this proposal, as well as information about how you can share your thoughts on this proposal with officials, is available online.

A new kind of boatyard is under construction in Ilwaco. Instead of building boats, this yard will deconstruct them. A friendly reminder from Clay Courtwright, Oregon State Parks manager for the Western Columbia River Gorge: All Oregon state parks, day use areas, trails, boat ramps, docks, and campgrounds are closed until further notice.
However, if you're looking for a dock to cruise to, CRYA shared that the courthouse docks at St. Helens and the docks at Sand Island remain open at this time, though only a few of the restaurants in St. Helens remain open (take out only).

Oregon Boater’s Card - ???
If you’re new to boating, you’ll need an Oregon Boater’s Card to sail or motor on the state’s waterways. (Children ages 12 and up also need a card.) The Daughters of Neptune will host a boater’s education class, taught by members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, at Portland Yacht Club on Sunday, June 23. Please see the flyer in your email inbox for more information.
This class will be the last one for the summer, so if you or someone you know needs to earn their Oregon Boater’s Card, now is the time to register.
