They doubted her decision to take a gap year from club soccer. Then they witnessed her go from solo training straight to USL W starting lineup 🚀

Talk about betting on yourself. Jesuit High School senior Naomi Perera was tired of the politics of club soccer in Oregon. So she took a whole season off in ‘25-‘26, trained with retired Paris St. Germain (PSG) and Portland Timbers baller and MLS Champion Larrys Mabiala, and did the unexpected: made it successfully through the tryouts for USLW semi-pro team Portland Cherry Bombs as a HS junior.

She competed against NCAA Division 1 women’s ballers weekly in games and practices, as the Cherry Bombs featured players from New Mexico St., University of Oregon, University of Portland and more.

And get this: she started the club’s inaugural match 🔥👀

Naomi parlayed her experience into securing a coveted spot with the elite Portland Thorns Academy this summer and is currently playing her final year of HS ball for National Power Jesuit ( #1 in Oregon, #3 in the US).

Naomi’s USWL breakthrough and elite form have officially placed her on the radar of the Sri Lankan Women’s National Team, as well as several high major West Coast and Midwest Division 1 women’s soccer programs 💪🏼
