This kind of attitude actually harms men.

As if taking care of yourself and nurturing your mind and body were something only women can benefit from?

Most men have spent years, sometimes decades, pouring everything into building muscle, running miles, and pushing hard without ever giving their bodies the counterbalance it needs. (We see y’all only hitting up the strength classes 🤨)

You actually lose mobility faster and sooner than you do strength and muscle mass. And then “what you’ve always done” becomes something that leads you down the path of injury (there’s a reason ruptured Achilles is common in 50-yo men…)

Taking agency in your health means being honest about what your body actually needs, not just what feels comfortable or familiar (or gender-appropriate). A world without suffering starts with people willing to do the work that actually moves the needle.

And a cool side effect is that yoga actually makes you more resilient to stress and more pain-tolerant, so you can go harder in your strength training (Villemure et. al., 2013).

Let’s be honest; the world feels heavy right now. The news cycle is a relentless torrent of news that somehow gets worse every day. 🫠 It can be so easy to let it drag you into the pit of despair forever.

But if we know anything, we know that the answer lies in being present. In sitting with and see what we can do with the now. The easiest way to do that is to come be in your body for a little while. Move a little muscle. Release some myokines. Bask in the endorphins after so you can keep your chin up for the rest of this day.

Our vision, the one that has driven everything we've built at Blaze, is a world without suffering. We believe that helping people feel good in their bodies creates a chain reaction that extends far beyond these four walls. A person who feels well, moves well, and belongs to something bigger than themselves carries that into every corner of their life.

That's what we're here for. Not just to give you a great workout, but to give you a space where you feel welcome, challenged, supported, and completely present. A local gathering place that's yours and doesn’t come with a hangover.

Shoulder pain is common. But common does not mean normal.

Too many people just quietly adjust their lives around not being able to lift things or learn to live with nagging shoulder pain. They hang back in class, skip the pressing movements, and tell themselves it is just part of getting older.

This is not something you have to accept.

If you feel seen, we built our next workshop, “Fix Your Press” specifically for you. In July, we are hosting a shoulder-focused workshop designed to help you actually understand what is going on, where you’re limited, and what you can do about it. Not just mitigate your life and mainline Aleve.

You will learn the anatomy of the shoulder, how it is supposed to move, and walk away with simple, targeted exercises to help you rebuild strength, control, and pain-free movement.

June is here, and so is our body focus for this month: knees, ankles, and toes.

We know, not the flashiest muscles on the marquee. But here is the thing: all these little joints add up to make a big difference.

When they don’t have a full range of motion, they can be silent killers for many different aspects of a workout. Like, for example, I bet most of you didn't realize how much squatting is actually in your ankles and toes. (I know our lifing clinic peeps learned that 👀)

Let’s use this month to get into the finer joints and keep you literally grounded in your everyday life. Spruce up those dogs because we are getting down to business and sandal season is officially here! 👣
