Some children make friends easily. Plenty don't — and almost nobody ever teaches them how. 🥋

Jiu-Jitsu does, and we teach it on purpose. You can't do Jiu-Jitsu on your own — it only works with a partner. So your son or daughter has to introduce themselves, work with somebody new, and be a decent partner whether they clicked or not.

Do that enough times and the awkwardness goes.

Younger kids copy the older ones. That's how it works at 7 Spears Martial Arts. 🥋

So we hand our students responsibility early — and something changes in a child the moment they realize somebody younger is watching how they behave.

They stand differently. They help without being asked.

Nobody hands a child that kind of responsibility. Jiu-Jitsu does.

We've taught children at 7 Spears Martial Arts who couldn't look up, and children who never stopped talking. 🙏

Both leave different. That's what we're here for, and it's why we teach Jiu-Jitsu and not something else.

Almost every poor decision a child makes happens in the half-second before they think.

Jiu-Jitsu builds that half-second. Kids learn to feel the pause and use it, and it carries into moments that matter a lot more than a drill does.

The people who get the most out of Jiu-Jitsu aren't the most talented ones. They're the ones who made it part of the week.

1. Put your classes in the calendar like meetings. Booked time wins.
2. Go on the day you least feel like it. That's the one that builds the habit.
3. Learn one person's name. You'll come for the people as much as the Jiu-Jitsu.

Number three is the one. A room where somebody notices you is a room you want to be in.

Confidence isn't a personality trait. It's evidence. ✨

A child becomes confident by collecting proof — I couldn't do that, and now I can — until the proof outweighs the doubt.

Jiu-Jitsu hands them that proof on a schedule. It's why it works on children nothing else has worked on.

Six months in, it isn't the technique that's changed.

Every person you'd describe as tough was once the one standing at the back of a Jiu-Jitsu class wondering whether to come back next week.
