TASTY TUESDAY is here with a powerful full packed breakfast option! 😋

Breakfast quinoa!
- rinse 1 cup of quinoa
- Combine quinoa with 2 cups milk of choice
- Bring to a soft boil then reduce to a simmer.
- Add sweetener of choice (honey, maple syrup, agave syrup) 1 tbsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp and vanilla extract 1 tsp
- Cover and let simmer for 15-20 minutes or until residual liquid is gone stir occasionally

Top with:
- Fresh berries
- Coconut shreds
- Nut butter
- H**p ,chia, or flax seeds
- Stir in after burn protein

😋 Tasty Thursday
Here is a healthy and easy crockpot recipe to make for you and your family 👪

🔹1 lb boneless skinless chicken breast
🔹4 cups low sodium chicken broth
🔹1 large yellow onion, diced
🔹3 cloves garlic, minced
🔹2 cans (15-ounces, each) low sodium Great Northern Beans, drained and rinsed well
🔹1 can (4.5 ounces) green chilies
🔹1 cup sweet corn kernels, drained and rinsed
🔹2 teaspoons ground cumin
🔹1/4 teaspoon chili powder
🔹1/4 teaspoon paprika
salt and fresh ground pepper, to taste
lime wedges, for serving
🔹1 avocado, sliced or diced, for garnish
jalapenos slices, for garnish, optional
sour cream, for garnish, optional
chopped fresh cilantro, for garnish
Place chicken on the bottom of your slow cooker.
Add chicken broth, onion, garlic, beans, green chilies, and corn.
Stir in cumin, chili powder, paprika, salt and pepper.
Cover and cook for 3.5 to 4 hours ON HIGH, or until chicken is thoroughly cooked. Or cook on LOW for 5 to 6 hours, or until chicken is done.
Remove chicken breasts from the pot and place on a cutting board; let cool for a few minutes.
Shred chicken and set aside.
Transfer about 1 cup of the soup into a blender and process until blended; stir it back into the soup until thoroughly combined.
Stir shredded chicken back into the soup.
Ladle chili into bowls; serve with lime wedges and garnish with avocado, jalapeno slices, sour cream, and cilantro.

“Struggling with weight and body appearance is something very common to me. I would gain weight, diet, exercise, lose the weight, stop dieting and exercising then gain it back. I was a boomerang but, in a way, I was comfortable with this routine. Then I was diagnosed with kidney disease in February of 2020 and in May of 2021 I had a kidney transplant. Recovery from surgery went well, but now I had to take medication with some less than fun side effects. Slowly I retreated into an old trigger for comfort, binge eating with little to no exercise. As I slowly gained weight for what felt like the millionth time, I tried to exercise on my own but my normal equation was no longer working, I needed something different. I needed motivation, accountability, and really, I needed a community. I knew Allison and I knew she started a gym called Burn Boot Camp and for a while I waffled about joining. Finally, I thought, just do the promotional week, so I did. Taking that first step was scary and restarting my journey yet again was hard, but coming to Burn each day was an easy choice. The trainers are incredibly kind and motivating. The other members are equally welcoming and encouraging. I am an introvert that has a hard time interacting with a lot of people but Burn makes it simple and easy. I love starting my day with Burn because it puts me into the best mental state. I have lost weight, which was and is my ultimate goal, but thanks to Burn I was able to begin an all-around healthier lifestyle that I can stick to long-term, no more boomerang.”

As kick off the weekend, an important thing to remember is that progress isn't linear, and it can often be messy! So if you feel like you’re going up and down, round and round, or even backwards, know that you're still working towards your goals.

"The last 3 years there have been a lot of changes for everyone but 2022 was my year that I finally realized that I desperately needed to do a change for myself. My weight was out of control, mentally and physically I was in my worst state. No energy or motivation to keep a workout routine. Many changes in my personal and work life. I tried a couple of gyms but the results were the same. I would start planning to attend classes and lose motivation fast. When I found burn it was an amazing feeling. I immediately loved the atmosphere (instructors, music, workouts, other members). First I signed up for a 6 month membership but within 2 weeks I felt so motivated that I switched to a 1 year membership. It is hard to attend classes some days but I have to remind myself that I deserve this opportunity to improve my confidence and mental health. I just want to feel comfortable in my clothes and have the energy to do outdoor activities. Little by little I feel that I’m getting stronger and more confident. Joining Burn has been one of the best decisions for my health and self esteem. I will continue reminding myself that I need to have patience and enjoy my new life changes."

✨Transformation Thursday✨

Today we have the honor of shouting out one of our Burn Bros, Dominic! He shows up each morning smiling, joking and ready to take on any challenge. Let’s his story and show ⬇️him some love in the comments!

“Before mid-May 2022, I had never subjected myself to an exercise regime as rigorous and radical as burn boot camp. Before this, I felt heavy, bloated, and emotional--out of sorts. I'd always wanted to join a gym and did join one while living in Manhattan seven or eight years ago. The traditional gyms in New York didn't work out. There was no motivation to go, and I gave up after trying to join a gym twice.  

When I considered joining a gym again in May 2022, I looked for something exotic. I found burn boot camp during an online search, and it was my first time hearing about something like this. I called one of their staff to learn more. After speaking with someone, I wanted to see the camp for myself. I drove to the Poway Boot Camp site and was immediately impressed. I was stung by what I saw. I knew immediately that it wouldn't be easy, but that this was the right place for me. I didn't hesitate at all, and any reservations I had about being a man with no previous experience in a proper exercise regime disappeared.

It has been an incredible experience for me. I feel great emotionally, and I sleep better. My mindset, outlook, and perspective on life have improved considerably for the first time in a long while. My mental health is way up, and physically I'm looking and feeling great. Even my friends notice the physical transformation. I was 205 pounds when I joined, and now, I'm down to 185 pounds. I'm optimistic that I'll reach my target weight of 170 pounds.

“Before Burn and during the pandemic, I was like great here I go again with snacking and not exercising. I was beating myself up mentally for falling back into old habits, knowing I needed to stop yet not really caring enough to do anything about it at the time. So once everything re-opened I decided to try Burn again.The main hesitation I had about trying Burn again was because my first experience was not the best. However, with Kavla and the rest of the team along with the members, I'm definitely enjoying Burn this time around.

Mv results since Mav 2022 have been:
⚡️Weight loss of 15 ½ Ibs;
⚡️Inches lost: 10 ½;
⚡️Body Fat down 6%
⚡️Muscle mass up 4 ½ Ibs;
⚡️Lost 20 lbs of fat.

During the month of April, Burn Boot Camps nationwide are partnering with the Muscular Dystrophy Association for our ‘Be Their Muscle’ annual event, to raise awareness for children and adults living with muscular dystrophy, ALS, and related neuromuscular diseases.

The Muscular Dystrophy Association is the #1 voluntary house organization in the United States! For 70 years, the MDA has lead the way in accelerating research, advancing care, and advocating for the support of our families! 💙

For the entire month of April we will be having $10 drop-in’s, with all proceeds going towards our MDA fundraiser! Come to any camp time!

Our fundraiser and our goal this year is to send 7 children to summer camp! The MDA provides transformative, life-changing camp experiences to thousands of children and young adults with NO cost to the families! ⭐️

“Hi 🖐🏼, my name is Joanna aka Jo. I have 4 kids, ages 15, 13, 9 & 7, who keep me very busy. I moved here to Poway a few weeks before the pandemic hit and it was rough to say the least. We were in the middle of a huge remodel, I had no community and my kids had no friends. BUT, I think we’ve all come out stronger and closer as a family. Finding Burn this past fall was a game changer for me. I had completely “fallen off the wagon” and was not in a great mental space, but was ready to move forward and make some big changes. I remember being terrified at my first camp because it had been so long since I had worked out like that, but everyone was so encouraging and I quickly found my new groove. I’ve had a few setbacks from surgery and an injury, but the trainers have always been there by my side, cheering me on and helping me modify to safely get back to where I was and even stronger than before. I will forever be grateful for the community I’ve found and continue to find at Burn. The incredible, encouraging, motivating and uplifting trainers are always pushing me to give my best. I am so grateful as Kayla says, to “get to” move my body and come workout. I love Burn and hate to miss a workout. Just ask my husband and kids!“
