Central Aroostook County is known for its beautiful scenery, abundant snow, northern lights displays, friendly people and strong sense of community. What if you gave yourself an entire day to simply exhale?

Join us for a Volunteer Appreciation BBQ!

When Northern Maine Community Trails began its next chapter last winter, we knew it would take a community to bring our vision to life. What we didn’t know was just how incredible that community would be!

Over the past several months, our amazing volunteers have contributed more than 5,000 hours to Northern Maine Community Trails. You’ve organized events, cleared trails, painted picnic tables, cleaned toiletes, welcomed visitors, maintained equipment, shared your expertise, solved problems, and jumped in wherever you were needed.

Every hour. Every helping hand. Every idea. Every volunteer has made a difference.

We want to celebrate YOU!

Join Northern Maine Community Trails on Sunday, October 25th from 1–4 PM for a FREE, fun-filled afternoon on the trails with your furry friend!

What to expect:
Guided hikes with rolling start times
Hikes & walks for all abilities
Stroller-friendly options
Senior-dog-friendly options
An on-site photographer to capture a portrait of you & your pup!

NMCT now allows dogs on more trails, so come learn the trails, enjoy the outdoors, and meet other dog-loving members of the community!

Northern Maine Community Trails' Summer Challenge has come to an end!

Log sheets can be returned to the Welcome Center or a picture can be taken and emailed to [email protected]. All log sheets must be received by Thursday, Sept 10th.

The winning 2027 Family Membership will be drawn on Sept 20.

You may have noticed that Northern Maine Community Trails looks a little different these days—the tent has been removed for the season.

The good news? It will be back in the spring!

We are incredibly grateful to Pineland Farms and the Libra Foundation for donating the tent to NMCT. What a wonderful show of support for this community and the incredible effort that has come together to reopen this important venue.

When the tent goes back up next spring, it will once again be available to rent for graduation parties, class reunions, weddings, family reunions, etc.

Thank you to our volunteers who helped to take the tent down. The saying, "many hands make light work". is true! (We had a couple more that were camera shy.)

What a day for biking in The County!

If there could be a perfect day for riding, August 30 was it! The sun was shining, there was a light breeze, and temperatures were in the low 70s — absolutely perfect conditions for the first-ever Crown of Maine Gravel!

Riders came from Massachusetts, southern Maine, and communities all across Aroostook County to experience some incredible gravel riding. With routes varying in distance, elevation, and technical sections, there was a little something for everyone.

A HUGE shoutout to Noah Rush-Mabry for envisioning this event and putting in the work to make it happen. What started as an idea turned into an amazing day on the bike.

Together, riders raised just over $1,300! All proceeds were donated to Northern Maine Community Trails.

Thank you to Noah, all of the volunteers who helped at the rehydration stations and sweeping, and most importantly, all of the bikers who came out and made the first Crown of Maine Gravel such a success.

It sounds like this may be the start of something special! Plans are already underway to make this an annual event, so mark your calendars for the last weekend in August.

Join Jocelyn for a Women's Walk on Sunday (9/6) at 2 pm. This walk is perfect for the person who wants to experience the trails and may be a little nervous about going alone. The pace is casual. The conversation light. The laughs many.
