Today is the final day of the 2025 fishing season. I’d like to thank all my clients for making it a very successful year for Vernon’s Guide Service. I hope to see you again next year. I’ll be booking for the 2026 season in a few short months. Again, thank you.

Yesterday, I was humbled to have been asked to be a part of a PBS show called “Hidden Gems”. I spent the day with Peter Greenberg and his crew shooting what will be a one hour show that will air in April or May on PBS, Amazon and Apple TV. The show was shot on Island Pond at Red River Camps and also featured Jen Brophy. Part of the show featured Peter and I in a canoe on the pond talking about the area and showed him fly fishing. Also, Jen and I were both interviewed for the show. A big thank you to Peter, his crew and Jen for the experience. All the crews were flown in byKatahdin Air Seaplane Service.

Back in June, Gregory Foster, one of our Roads Superintendents in northern Maine, spotted a moose calf taking a rest right in the middle of a logging road. He waited quietly in his pickup truck while the calf gathered its strength and made its way down the road and off to a more appropriate napping location, with the help of its watchful mother. Moments like this remind us how lucky we are to call the forest our office.
