Easy Ways To Say No
While there are obvious situations where a straight-up “NO” is the only proper response, there are times where you may need to be a bit more diplomatic as you uphold a boundary.
Boundaries are important for your mental, emotional and physical wellbeing and are also a key success strategy to help you meet your goals.
For instance…if you are looking to eat more nutritious foods, exercise more or take more time for self care but there is someone or something in your life that is getting in the way of that goal, you may need to start saying “no” more often.
Here are some of the most effective ways to say no without hurting someone’s feelings or having to give a detailed explanation.
📌Sorry I need to prioritize my sleep right now
📌Thank-you for thinking of me but I don’t have space for that right now
📌That sounds like fun but I’ll need to take a raincheck
📌I’m taking a break from alcohol right now so I’ll have to say no
📌Thanks for the invite/offer but I’m going in a different direction
📌I wish I could but I’m already committed to something else
📌My plate is as full as I’d like it to be right now, thank you for thinking of me though.
These short phrases soften the “no’ with a short explanation that should stop the conversation and in most situations not require you to explain further.
Do you have a “no” phrase that you have found works well for you? Share in the comments!
Sooo I know you may have been ignoring the signs of Burnout.
Because you may believe…
Belief # 1 Burnout is solely caused by excessive workload
Belief # 2 Burnout is a sign of weakness or personal failure
Belief # 3 Burnout affects only high-achievers or workaholics
Belief # 4 Taking a short vacation or time off will cure burnout
But that is simply not true…
It’s important to dispel these misconceptions and promote a better understanding of burnout to facilitate its prevention, identification, and effective management. I have helped countless Busy Moms transform their Burnout by developing coping strategies, setting boundaries, increasing productivity and overall health improvements.
In fact, this is the exact thing that I teach in my 90 Day Transformation Program Recharge: Exhaustion to Excitement.
I’ve helped a number of clients and I know it can work for you too…

I would chose Shapeshifting like Mystique in X-Men
If I could shapeshift like Mystique from X-Men, the possibilities would be nearly endless.
Here are a few things I might do:
1. Explore different forms: I would enjoy the freedom of assuming different appearances. It would be fascinating to experience life from different perspectives, such as being a bird, a dolphin, or even an insect.
2. Gather information: I could transform into different people or animals to access restricted areas or overhear private conversations, helping me acquire valuable knowledge and insights.
3. Assist others: I could help people in various ways. I could assume the appearance of a loved one to comfort someone in distress, or I could transform into a skilled professional to assist in delicate situations, such as performing life-saving medical procedures or solving complex problems.
4. Pursue acting or espionage: I could take on any role convincingly, be it on stage or in movies. Additionally, my abilities would make me an exceptional spy, allowing me to infiltrate high-security organizations or gather intelligence without being detected.
5. Experience different cultures: Immerse myself in different cultures and societies. By assuming the appearance of individuals from various backgrounds, I could gain a deeper understanding of their perspectives, traditions, and way of life.
6. Challenge societal norms: By assuming different genders, races, or abilities, I could raise awareness about the importance of empathy, understanding, and acceptance.
7. Inspire and entertain: I could inspire and entertain others. I could showcase the beauty and wonder of transformation, promoting the idea that individuality and change are to be celebrated.
It’s important to note that using shapeshifting abilities ethically and responsibly would be crucial. Maintaining a strong moral compass would guide me in using these powers for the greater good and respecting the privacy and autonomy of others.
What superpower would you want to have and why?
Knowledge is Freedom 📚
I lived for so many years believing that sacrificing my needs for the greater good would show how much I loved, valued and cared for a person. If I went above and beyond I could get the promotion at work the recognition that I deserved. But now I know that seeking outside love and recognition only left me feeling burnout, frustrated, cheated, unworthy, unlovable and taken advantage of. The thing that changed everything for me is realizing the only person that could love, appreciate, value and nurture me was ME. The only person that could make me happy was ME.
Before I knew this was the solution to Burnout, I was stressed, overwhelmed, lost, exhausted and just plain tired with the direction my life was going. I have always been in survivor mode and just power through. There was no time for self reflection when I had goals to achieve. I didn’t realize that mode of thinking and doing no longer served me until I hit my breaking point. I was suffering with depression and anxiety. But I didn’t even know it until I sought help.
Now that I have the knowledge I needed to get my health under control I am able to live and create the life I want for myself. Having this knowledge has given me freedom from burnout, depression and anxiety. It has made me a better person within my personal and professional life.
What is something you want to do/enjoy but your current challenges are not allowing you to?
How In Control Are You?
Level 1: Personal Control- Focuses on self-care practices, setting boundaries, prioritizing tasks, practicing stress management techniques, and seeking social support. Personal control involves taking responsibility for your well-being and actively implementing strategies to prevent or address burnout.
Level 2: Organizational Control- Involves creating a supportive work environment that values work-life balance, promotes open communication, provides resources for stress management, offers opportunities for professional development, and encourages a positive workplace culture. Organizational control includes policies and practices aimed at reducing excessive workload, fostering work autonomy, and recognizing and addressing burnout symptoms among employees.
Level 3: Societal Control- Focuses on advocating for changes in societal attitudes towards work and promoting a healthier work-life integration. It may involve initiatives such as promoting work flexibility, challenging the "always-on" culture, and advocating for policies that support work-life balance.
It's important to address burnout at all these levels to effectively manage and prevent it.
Let me know in the comments are you at a level 1, 2 or 3?
Helpful vs Unhelpful Actions:
In our desire to bring resolution to our burnout we need to make sure we are doing things that are actually helpful vs doing something reactionary that might feel justified in the moment but is detrimental to our long term goals of setting healthy boundaries.
When we are experiencing burnout we can end up feeling so anxious or pressured about the problem that we end up doing something that can be more harmful than helpful.
When we begin to lose sight of our goal or feel like the process is taking too long we can start engaging in actions that actually lead us further away from our desired outcome…
Most of these actions offer us a “short term gain” of pleasing others to the detriment of the long term solution that gets to the root of the issues.
So I want to encourage you to stay the course…do the work…stick to the basics when you start to feel overwhelmed but always keep your end goal in mind.
And if you are finding that you are stuck in doing the things that lead you away from your goal of reducing stress, increasing energy and setting healthy boundaries. Post MORE INFO below and I will reach out with some resources for you.

Transformation is an ongoing process - not a destination.
Transformation always begins at the level of motivation.
You are either motivated to move away from pain or towards something pleasurable.
Motivation usually begins with an event or a catalyst…something that happens that makes you realize that a change is needed.
Unfortunately motivation will only get you so far because motivation doesn’t last.
This occurs when the pain is not as acute or the pleasurable thing seems less important or less possible because you have hit a plateau. (or a wall)
From there you move into a state of contemplation…
How important is this goal? Do I REALLY want it? Do I really care? How much will it cost me? Is the sacrifice and effort worth it? What is the most likely outcome?
From there you either abandon the goal - leaving the wheel of transformation OR you commit to your goal with an “all in” attitude or you may continue to vacillate back and forth between commitment, plateau and contemplation.
Once you reach your goal then the process can begin again…
If you continue in this process your transformation will be ongoing…
Where are YOU on the wheel of transformation?
