Yesterday’s Pop-Up Skills Camp was a blast!!
We had a great group of athletes come in with a wide range of experience, skill levels, and goals. That gave us the chance to mix groups, rotate positions, and spend time working with athletes on what was most useful for them.
A big part of the day was stunting and technical development, with some time for jumps and athlete-choice skills as well. We also worked through different grips, techniques, and approaches to certain skills. One thing I always want athletes to understand is that there isn't always just one “right” way to get the same result in cheerleading. Sometimes a small change in grip, timing, body position, or approach is what finally makes a skill click.
One phrase we kept coming back to throughout the day was:
Own It. Fix It. Move On.
The athletes did a great job with that. They worked hard, accepted corrections, tried new approaches, and were willing to work across different skill levels while still supporting one another. That is exactly the kind of environment we want to create!
We plan to continue offering Skills Camps every 1–2 months throughout the cheer season, giving athletes, stunt groups, and teams affordable opportunities to build confidence, strengthen current skills, and keep working through progressions.
Thank you to everyone who came out and spent part of their Sunday with us. We had a great time working with you.
