The JV teams competed at the Lovejoy XC Fall Festival on Saturday at Myers Park. The runners compete on the “same” course as the week before, but ran it the opposite direction.

Race conditions were more favorable this week with cooler temps and less humidity. Sophomore Lily Varilek led the JV team, placing 13th in 22:07; a new PR! Nysa Mulmudi, Ava Hannah, Lola Silva, and Lila Grothe also recorded PRs. The girls team placed 11th out of 19 teams.

With only 31 seconds separating their 1st and 5th runner, the boys placed 16th in a field of 24 teams. Willis Baschnagel, Srinithish Kumar, Devang Kumar, Luke Bergh, Rushil Moparte, Reyansh Punugu, Goutham Kumaravel, and Connor Coccaro all ran PRs!

Congrats to all the athletes. The JV teams will have a week off as the varsity teams travel to Stillwater for the Cowboy Jamboree. Both teams will compete at the Jesuit Classic on October 3rd.

The teams headed to McKinney for the Bronco Stampede on Saturday. Myers Park, one of the toughest courses on the schedule, features a figure 8 loop over rolling hills in which the runners complete two times. It’s also the District course where the teams race to qualify for Regionals.

Finishing in the top 5, Taylor Peck and Maggie Breitenstein led the Elite Varsity to a 3rd place team finish. Callie Ray, Hazyl Harding, and Bayley Smith all placed in the top 30, rounding out the scoring runners for the Eagles.

Jacob Nally and Clay Keefe paced the boys to an 11th place finish in the Elite Varsity boys race. Kevin Glover, Namit Chennamaneni, and Carson Keefe also scored for the boys team.

The Varsity teams will have a week break before traveling to Stillwater for the OSU Cowboy Jamboree. The JV teams will compete at the Lovejoy XC Fall Festival on 9/19 at Myers Park.

Prosper Cross Country is paying it forward! 💚🦅

A huge thank-you to Tractor Supply Co. in Celina for generously donating 15 hay bales for our team to use in the Prosper Homecoming Parade. After the parade, we were happy to donate the hay bales to the Donkey and Equine Haven USA here in Celina!

We are incredibly grateful for the support of our local community and love being able to pass that kindness along. Community supporting community—that’s what Prosper and Celina are all about! 💚

Saturday marked the much anticipated first 5k of the season! This highly competitive meet welcomes teams from Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. The Varsity Elite girls lined up with nearly 300 of their closest “friends” to get the morning of races kicked off. Taylor Peck and Maggie Breitenstein both finished in the Top 20 and ran PRs to lead the team to an 8th place finish in a field of 38. Hazyl Harding, Callie Ray and Bayley Smith were the other PHS scoring runners.

Nearly 400 boys took off in the Varsity Elite race just as the top girls were crossing the finish line. The “young” Eagles, led by senior Jacob Nally (also with a PR) and Kevin Glover finished 21st out of a whopping 48 teams. Clay Keefe, Carson Keefe, and Andy Bergh rounded out the scoring runners.

Many athletes ran a PR despite the humid and warm conditions. It’s certainly exciting to see so many athletes racing so well, so early in the season.

The teams return to the grass on Saturday, 9/12 ay Myers Park for the McKinney Boyd Bronco Stampede. This is also the District course so it’s a great opportunity for the teams to gain valuable experience on the rolling hills. Come out and support the hardest working team on campus!

The PHS XC team switched it up a bit this week and headed south to Norbuck Park for a “fun” race. Teams consisted of 4 runners, each running a 1.5 mile loop. The course had a few hay bale barriers that runners must cross. Hurdling the hay bales is strongly discouraged as many kids misjudge the height of the hay bales and the lack of spring in their step. The race directors are amazing as the entire event is perfect organized and choreographed chaos.

The Varsity A girls placed 3rd in a field of 36 teams, while the Varsity A boys came away with a 7th place finish against 42 teams!

Mark your calendars and set your alarms for Saturday, 9/5 as the teams will race in one of the largest and most competitive meets of the season. Races start at 6:50 Saturday morning at North Lakes Park in Denton for the Coach T-Marcus Invite.

After months of summer training, the Eagles lined up on Friday night in Carrollton to officially kick off the 2026 season. The teams competed against over 1,200 runners on a lighted course around McInnish Park.

The Varsity Elite girls were paced to a 3rd place team finish by Taylor Peck (3rd) and Maggie Breitenstein (5th). Callie Ray, Hazyl Harding, and Bayley Smith all turned in top 30 finishes against to teams in the area.

In the last race of the evening, Jacob Nally secured 2nd place in a competitive field. Sophomores Kevin Glover (15th) and Clay Keefe (20th), Junior Namit Chennamaneni (36th) and Senior Andy Bergh (45th) all ran smart races to edge out Arlington Martin by 5 points to earn 3rd place honors.

Several other runners in both the JV and Varsity races also ran PRs.

The teams will compete in the Greenhill Luke’s Locker 6 Mile Relay at Norbuck Park on Saturday, August 29th.

It was a perfect morning to bust off the rust, lace up the spikes and hit the park for a friendly race against Walnut Grove.

The boys were led by senior Jacob Nally, followed by Kevin Glover, Clay Keefe, Carson Keefe, and Namit Chennamaneni.

Senior Maggie Breitenstein crossed the line first in the girls race with Taylor Peck, Callie Ray, Hazyl Harding, and Bayley Smith rounding out the top 5 PHS finishers.
