Senior PHS Cross Country runner, Mikey McCart, did amazing at the Boys’ 800M Championship at the Nike Indoor Nationals in New York with an amazing time of 1:55.89!

Congratulations Alivia Spangler and Mikey McCart!

Alivia will continue her running career and education at the University of Central Arkansas. Go Bears! 💜🐻💜

Mikey will work towards his dream of becoming a pilot while also running for LeTourneau University. Go Yellowjackets! 💙🐝💙

Congratulations Alivia Spangler and Mikey McCart!

Both PHS student-athletes competed against some of the top runners in the state on Saturday. The 3.1 mile course has a generous start but quickly narrows as runners cross a levee and wind through the park. Runners are forced to jockey for position as the many sharp turns make it difficult to maintain momentum and pass competitors.

Alivia placed 36th in 18:35; just 7 seconds off her PR sent just 10 days earlier at the Regional Meet. In his first State Meet experience, Mikey crossed the line in 16:03 and 63rd place.

The Eagles trekked 5 hours west to Lubbock on Monday to compete at Regionals. Under clear skies and cool temps, the teams lined up to race some of the toughest teams in the entire state. The top 4 teams and 10 individuals not on those teams would advance to the State Meet.

The girls team placed 6th, only missing 4th place by 20 points. The boys team placed 8th. Although neither team advanced, both Alivia Spangler (10th) and Mikey McCart (14th) earned individual spots at the State Meet in Round Rock on November 1st.

Congratulations to both teams on another great seasons of racing!
