For us at Rhode Races, the Independence Rhode Race is the ultimate passion project. We love bringing runners from all over to experience Bristol’s famous parade route, beautiful coastlines, and time-honored running paths.

But this race is about so much more than miles. It’s about channeling the energy of our running community into local tourism, fundraising, and supporting the preservation of Bristol's vibrant maritime history and civic groups.

From our very first official race in Providence to welcoming over 5,000 runners at Newport this past spring, it’s been a distinguished decade of keeping the local running scene moving.
We started with a shared passion for the sport, joked our way into titles like "Chief Party Planner" (Karen) and "Chief Running Officer" (Sue), brought on family (shoutout to Cam!), and made it our mission to treat every runner like a guest in our home.

Whether you’ve tackled our 5 signature marathons and half marathons, braved the Hangover Classic on New Year's Day, or joined us for a local Wine Run, thank you for trusting us with your miles, your sweat, and your finish-line moments.

Rhode Races is currently seeking volunteers for our Saturday, June 27th, race morning packet pickup from 4:30 AM to 9:00 AM. This is a fantastic opportunity to network with fellow community members, support local athletes, and experience the exciting behind-the-scenes energy of race morning.
