At 63 years old, with zero strength training background and a long-standing hip injury, Leslie just added 40 lbs to her trap bar deadlift in 5 months. 💪
She came to us over a year ago for Personal Training, after we had worked with both her husband and son. Active in tennis and cardio-based group classes — but brand new to strength training.
Our goals were simple:
💪 Build overall strength and stability
💪 Increase muscle mass and bone density
💪 Improve hip mobility (she sustained a significant injury as a teenager, and her right side was notably limited upon assessment)

A few things worth noting:
1️⃣ Even in our 60’s, we can make legitimate strength gains with consistency over 3+ months
2️⃣ Two focused sessions per week is plenty — especially when we’re new to resistance training
3️⃣ It doesn’t have to be fancy. Keeping the basics top of mind will always beat chasing the latest trend.
Not shown here: the improvements in her bloodwork, body composition numbers, and — I’m willing to wager — her bone mineral density (we haven’t done a DEXA scan yet, so stay tuned).
Props to Leslie for her hard work, her consistency, trusting in the process, and keeping it fun along the way. 🤘

💪 INTRODUCING: FR “PUMP”💪
Starting this week, we will be adding a new program track dedicated to building strength and hypertrophy: FR “PUMP.” This conditioning-free option will be programmed in 3x/week, alongside or overlapping with our “Fitness” and “Performance” tracks.

The goal of adding this option is to give people more opportunities to focus on building muscle size and strength, and take a break from conditioning when they want it. Some of us want to come to the gym to get strong, and do our conditioning in the form of other sports, and that is great; this Monday, Wednesday, and Friday option will work for that, as well as for people that come 4 or 5 times each week, and want to mix things up. And, just like “Fitness” and “Performance,” you don’t need to commit to staying in one track all of the time — you can choose based on how you feel that day what you want to do.

Coach (and former Division I Gymnast) Gabby will be bringing back her gymnastics skills workshops over the next couple of months, starting with a Handstand Clinic on Saturday, November 15th, at 10:30am.

Pregnancy and Pelvic Floor Health with Dr. Marina Nogueira, DPT
Join us this Sunday, November 9th, at 10am, for an educational workshop on fitness during pregnancy, led by longtime Full Range member and Physical Therapist, Marina Nogueira. Along with the basics of pelvic floor education, also covered will be changes to expect during pregnancy, how to modify exercises as needed, and how to proactively work toward preventing Pelvic Floor issues.
This is a free event for all members, and friends and family are welcome. If you know someone that might be interested, please pass this along, and have them reach out. Looking forward to a fun and informative event!
