If you’ve ever spent fifteen minutes trying to leave the Y because you kept running into people you know, you get why this upgrade matters.
Today, we officially cut the ribbon on our renovated entrance, lobby, and new elevator. At the Y, the space where we connect matters just as much as the space where we work out.
This is where kids gather for programs, members catch up after class, our team greets people by name, and community happens in between the routines.
We’re grateful to our members, donors, staff, New England Construction, The Champlin Foundation, and everyone who helped bring this project to life. Our thanks also to Councilwoman Sue AnderBois for her continued support of our branch as we look ahead to future improvements.
Same branch. Better vibes. More room for community. 💙

Mental health is for everyone.
Mental well-being is shaped by more than what’s happening in our minds.
It’s influenced by external factors too, like access to food, stable housing, a sense of belonging, and strong community connections.
At the YMCA, we believe mental health belongs to everyone, and
Everyone deserves support.

Water Smart Rule # 5: Don’t Hold Your Breath (literally)
Breath-holding contests? Yeah, let’s not. They might seem like harmless fun, but breath-holding games in the water can be seriously dangerous, even for strong swimmers.
Holding your breath too long can lead to shallow water blackout, a silent and sudden emergency that can happen without warning.
At the Y, we teach that water safety isn’t just about swimming, it’s about smart choices.
So, skip the contests, and keep the fun safe for everyone.

Mental health is movement. It’s not one big leap; it’s small steps every day, like:
- Moving your body
- Taking a deep breath
- Connecting with someone
- Joining a class that lifts your spirit
At the YMCA, we’re here to support your journey every step of the way.

Today we take a moment to remember and honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to this country.
Their dedication and sacrifice shaped the communities we live in, and it's not something we take lightly. We're also thinking of the families and loved ones who carry them with them, today and every day.
Wishing everyone a meaningful Memorial Day.

Who says you can’t learn new tricks?
Our members picked up pickleball at age 60 and have been hooked ever since.
At the GPY, every day is a chance to try something new and stay young at heart.
What’s something new you’d love to try this year?
