George Morris Clinic at Westbrook Hunt Club

George was very happy with the effort of the riders to improve themselves. He mentioned his 4 corner stones... Forward position with the horse, heels down in every occassion, eyes and several releases. Dislikes for future reference... Small hunter bats that can pass for twigs broken off a bush, faddish stirrup irons, mainly the new ones are too light, the hinged ones don't allow for the weight to be driven into the riders heels. Also he prefers no martingals or running martingals, no ear stuffies or even ear bonnets, unless it's very buggy! Gags, elevator type bits must have two reins. He prefers simple or twisted snaffles or for pullers a double twisted wire. Much more was covered but those are his pet peeves. Thank you everybody who participated! Auditors and riders.

A very successful weekend! Many thanks to Westbrook Hunt Club and Jane Dow Burt. They went above and beyond. Rented heaters for the spectators as well as adding seating in the windowed areas of the main building. Also had a small kitchen open selling soup,salads and sandwiches.

8:45 start on Sunday! Last group starts at 2 pm sharp.

We have "The Horse with the Flying Tail" on DVD. Might try to figure someplace to play it during lunch on Saturday if there is interest.

I spoke with the esteemed Mr. Morris this evening. He is in Buffalo NY this weekend. He was checking to make sure we are prepared for next week. Of course we are!
