✅ Student-Centered Instruction:
Our jobs as coaches are to be Guides on the Side, not a Sage on the Stage. When kids see their classmates in demonstrations, they see realistic performance of the movement for someone their age and skill level.
✅ Kids Paying Attention: Eyes on the demonstration and coach. Engagement is our classroom management tool.
✅ Developmentally appropriate coaching language and grappling tasks. Practice tasks have an entry point for every kid in class with room to push the boundaries as their skills grow.
✅ Realistic Grappling Practice: What we practice applies immediately and directly to grappling in the gym and at a tournament.
✅ Sense of Belonging: Every kid in class knows they are in a safe place where they are valued and respected.

What a blessing to see each other grow and shine since we were baby blue belts. It's not a fast or easy journey for women to become leaders in Jiu Jitsu spaces. But we put in the work over years and years and never gave up. Representation matters and we work to shatter glass ceilings every single day with grace, joy, and gratitude. 💐

Thank you, Caren for being an incredible role model, mentor, and true friend for the last 20 years. You inspire me to take chances and taught me how to take the high road while standing my ground. It was amazing to run a practice for people who I’ve known and learned from since my first day. There’s over 100 years of combined grappling experience in the first row!
