𝐖𝐄 𝐆𝐎𝐓 𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐆𝐔𝐘.

We are extremely excited to announce the hiring of our new head coach, Mr. Major Willette.

Originally from Ogden, Utah, and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Coach Willette played collegiate basketball at Phoenix College before finishing his playing career and earning his degree at CSU-Pueblo.

Over the past five years, Coach Willette has coached with the Steel City Stars girls travel basketball program, led numerous youth recreation league teams, and founded UPTOP Training, where he has helped athletes of all ages develop their skills, confidence, and work ethic.

Coach Willette is committed to building a program founded on accountability, discipline, toughness, and family while helping our student-athletes grow as leaders both on and off the court.

We are excited to welcome Coach Willette to the South High family and can’t wait for the future of South Girls Basketball!

Big shoutout to our three guys. All week Caeden Herrera, MJ Molina and Kade Ortiz put nose to the pavement and grinded for this team.

2026 senior Caeden Herrera was named the tournament gold glove winner. 2026 senior Kade Ortiz was named umpires choice for Catcher of the tournament and 2028 sophomore MJ Molina was named to the All Tournament Team. Both Caeden and MJ pitched the championship game with Kade behind the dish. Best of luck to the Azteca boys in the Bado before they head to South Dakota for the big one.

When you share the field with great programs and compete the way we do in the South Central League, you start to believe that some of the best baseball in Colorado is played in Pueblo and can’t wait for someone to make it to the mountaintop. This has been a long time coming and well deserved for the Hornets, the SCL and the Pueblo community.

Coach Matt Eades, MVP Blake Swift and the Pueblo County Hornets, thank you for representing our city and our league on the biggest stage. Pueblo baseball is alive and well. The standard has been raised, and the future is bright.

Rivalries make us competitors, but respect makes us brothers in the game. What your players, coaches, and community accomplished this season is something all of Pueblo can be proud of.

𝐒𝐎𝐔𝐓𝐇 𝐂𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐋 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐆𝐔𝐄 𝐇𝐎𝐍𝐎𝐑𝐒.

The 2 Time MVP, The Defensive MVP, His Airness, The Freshman, The Texas Tornado, Bam Bam and the Fly in No Fly Zone; Seven C**ts found their way to SCL Honors this year.

Senior Caeden Herrera was named South Central League CO-MVP and First Team All Conference in back to back seasons.

Senior Kade Ortiz was named Defensive MVP and First Team for the third time in his career, while sophomore MJ Molina were each named to the First Team for the second time.

Freshman Jackson Henderson and junior James Silva were named to the Second Team while senior Cam Montoya was named Honorable Mention and junior Josiah Guerra was named to the All Defense Team.

Congratulations to all SCL players on award winning seasons and a huge shoutout to our guys. We look forward to the future with each of them.
