Another great chapter with the YMCA Book Club! 📚💛

This month, our readers gathered to discuss Once Upon a Tome by Oliver Darkshire. From thoughtful conversations to plenty of smiles and laughter, it was wonderful seeing everyone connect over a shared love of books.

At the Y, book club is about more than reading—it’s about friendship, belonging, and finding a community where your interests are celebrated. We can’t wait to see what our next chapter brings!

Today, YMCAs around the world recognize World Drowning Prevention Day. 💙

We spoke with our Deck Supervisor, who has served as a lifeguard for five years, taught swim lessons for three years, and helped more than 2,000 people learn how to swim. After losing a friend to drowning, water safety became deeply personal to her.

Even with the right skills and safety tools, water can still be dangerous. Always take extra precautions, stay alert, and never underestimate the importance of learning how to swim.

This fall, the YMCA of Pueblo will offer swim lessons on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays to help people throughout our community build confidence, develop lifesaving skills, and be better prepared for the risks that water can present.

Together, we can create safer swimmers and help prevent drowning—one lesson at a time. 🏊‍♀️

Our Summer Sports Camp athletes had the exciting opportunity to learn new soccer skills from a Colorado State University Pueblo soccer coach. Experiences like this help kids build confidence, strengthen teamwork, and prepare for the upcoming season—all while having fun!

There’s something special about sharing a meal with your community. 💙

Our last YMCA Potluck brought members, staff, and families together around great food, laughter, and new friendships. One of the most meaningful parts of the day was welcoming Aspen Acres Fire evacuees to the table and into our YMCA family. It was a beautiful reminder that community is strongest when everyone has a place to belong.

Now it’s time to do it again! 🌲🥪

Join us for our next potluck, “Party in the Indoor Pines,” as we celebrate Colorado’s 150th Birthday on Friday, August 14, from 12:00–1:00 PM. Wear your favorite Colorado destination shirt or Colorado sports team jersey, bring a dish to share, and enjoy an afternoon of food, fun, and fellowship.
