Hi! Meet the Owner — Hanna!
Dance has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started dancing at just three years old at Barb’s Centre for Dance, where I continued dancing throughout my childhood and into high school.
In high school, I was a Green Bay Southwest Troyette, where I had the opportunity to be coached by the one and only Shawna Landes. I became an award-winning dancer and made so many memories that helped shape the dancer, coach, and person I would eventually become.
After high school, I continued my dance journey on the St. Norbert College Dance Team. I danced there for several years before realizing that my true passion was no longer just performing, it was teaching and coaching the next generation of dancers.
I began teaching at the amazing Forever Dance Company, where I taught for six years. During those six years, Tiffany Hall played such an important role in helping guide, mentor, and shape me into the business owner and teacher I am today.
One of the coolest full-circle moments from my time at Forever is that I had the opportunity to teach one of my former students, Jaelyn Hoppman, who is now one of the amazing teachers at HHOD. How crazy is that?!
I’m forever grateful for the people who believed in me, challenged me, and poured into me throughout my journey.
While I was still in college, I also began coaching the Pulaski Dance Team. I was lucky enough to have one of my best friends from my high school dance team, Jennifer Erickson, join me as my assistant coach. We both attended St. Norbert College together, and having her by my side throughout this journey has been so special. From dancing together in high school, to attending college together, to eventually coaching side-by-side, it’s another one of those amazing full-circle moments that I’m so grateful for.
I eventually graduated from UW-Green Bay after stepping away from dancing at St. Norbert to focus on what I had realized I loved most, teaching and coaching.
And another full-circle moment happened at UW-Green Bay. While taking dance classes in college, I met Kassie Laylan Neyrinck, who I never could have imagined would one day become one of my teachers at HHOD.
I also have to give a HUGE shoutout to Amanda Schabo, who has been family to us for over 15 years. Since I opened HHOD, Amanda has driven both of her daughters from the Greenville area, an hour away, multiple times a week to dance. What started as her simply supporting our family and our dream has turned into Amanda becoming such a huge part of HHOD and our dance family. The time, love, and dedication she has given over the years means more to me than she probably realizes. I truly could not imagine this journey without her. Another pretty amazing full-circle moment and one I will forever be grateful for.
And of course, a special shoutout to my three nieces, who make the trip from Luxemburg to dance and compete with Aunt Hanna! Getting to watch them grow as dancers and share the stage with them is something I don’t take for granted. Being their aunt is already so special, but getting to be Coach Hanna to them makes it even more meaningful. Another one of those full-circle moments that makes this journey so incredibly special!
And then there’s the Pulaski Dance Team.
During my early years of coaching, I had the opportunity to coach Hailey Kraynik, Dayton Hock, and Grace James, and now they are all part of my HHOD teaching family.
When I really stop and think about it, the amount of full-circle moments throughout my journey is pretty incredible.
The people I danced with.
The people who taught me.
The students I taught.
The dancers I coached.
So many of those people have now come back into my life as teachers, coaches, mentors, and part of the HHOD family.
It really makes me realize that this journey has been so much bigger than just opening a dance studio.
But there was always another dream in the back of my mind.
Since I was a little girl, I knew I wanted to own a dance studio someday.
Taking that leap, however, was terrifying.
In 2020, I found a small building right here in Pulaski, the community where I was coaching, and decided it was time to take a chance on my dream.
And then… I opened a dance studio during a pandemic.
I had absolutely no idea what was going to happen. Would kids come? Would families trust me? Would I be able to keep the doors open? Would I even be able to keep the lights on?
But somehow, we kept growing.
Within just a year, I had already outgrown that little 900-square-foot, one-studio building. My dad and I had plans to add onto it, but as I’ve learned so many times throughout this journey, everything happens for a reason.
I found another building just down the road and suddenly, my little dream had room to grow.
When we first got into the current HHOD building, it was almost a blank slate. What you see today took countless hours, lots of hard work, plenty of late nights, and an incredible amount of help from my dad.
Over the last three years, we have renovated, remodeled, painted, built, moved, rearranged, and dreamed our way into the space that is now Hanna’s House of Dance.
And now, heading into Season 7, I still can’t believe how far we’ve come.
From one tiny 900-square-foot studio… to a 6,000-square-foot dance studio with THREE beautiful studios.
That growth means more to me than I could ever put into words.
Because HHOD has never just been about a building.
It’s about the dancers who walk through those doors.
The teachers who pour their hearts into them.
The friendships they make.
The confidence they build.
The memories they create.
The families who support them.
And the incredible community that has believed in this dream from the very beginning.
I am so incredibly thankful for every family who has trusted me with their dancers and allowed me to be a small part of their journey, whether that has been through Hanna’s House of Dance or the Pulaski Dance Team.
And it’s pretty special to think that the little girl who started dancing at age three had no idea that someday she would get to call this her career.
And I have to thank my husband, who I actually met during the renovation of my very first studio. Many of our first dates looked a little different than most, cutting pool noodles for the dance floor, remodeling, and spending hours working on the studio together. What started as helping me build a dance studio turned into building a life together, and I’m so thankful for the support he has given me and for always believing in my crazy dreams.
And Mom, thank you for being my amazing accountant, but even more importantly, for always helping guide me and lead me down the best path. You have helped me navigate so many of the business decisions and behind-the-scenes pieces that I never would have known how to do on my own. I’m so thankful to have you in my corner and for everything you do to help make HHOD what it is today.
Looking back, I can see all of the little pieces that led me here, and so many of the people who were part of my journey are now part of the HHOD family.
Talk about full circle.
I’m so thankful for every teacher and coach who helped me along the way, especially Shawna Landes and Tiffany Hall, my dad who has quite literally helped me build this dream from the ground up, and all of the dancers, teachers, coaches, and families who have helped make HHOD what it is today.
So, hi. I’m Hanna.
But around here, you’ll probably hear Coach Hanna a lot.
I’m the owner, teacher, choreographer, coach, cleaner, builder, problem-solver, occasional late-night painter, and biggest cheerleader for every dancer who walks through these doors.
And I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Thank you for seven years of believing in HHOD. I cannot wait to see where we go next.
