We are reeling from the loss of our friend and former RHD/PRR teammate, Hot Donna, who passed away in a tragic car accident this past week.
Donna was one of the original Palouse River Rollers skaters and skated in PRR’s very first bout. Her impact on our league will never be forgotten. Although she later moved to Alaska and found a new derby home with Rage City, she never stopped being part of our derby family. We feel incredibly grateful that we got to spend time with her this May at Cascadian Clash.
Donna had a way of making everyone feel welcome and seen. She loved as hard as she hit, and anyone who knew her remembers her famous red lipstick, her incredible hugs, and the way she could make you laugh exactly when you needed it most. She was fierce on the track, but even more remarkable for the kindness, warmth, and joy she shared with everyone around her.
Outside of derby, Donna poured her heart into children. As a teacher, she helped shape the lives of so many of the kids in our community long before she became a mom herself. She leaves behind her husband, Mathew, and their beautiful 13-month-old son, Joshua, who was the light of her life.
She will always be one of us, and we are so proud to have called her our friend and teammate. We will miss her deeply.
If you would like to support Donna’s family during this incredibly difficult time, they have set up a GoFundMe: https://gofund.me/2df561735
