PR CARE
If you want to know what PRR is about, PR CARE will tell you everything. PR CARE is at the heart of our league, and our commitment to holding these values at our core is the reason why we continue to grow every year.
POSITIVE
We recognize that roller derby, and everything it takes to make a roller derby league run, takes lots of energy. We know that positivity fuels us to keep going and negativity steals our energy. We promise to practice positive self-talk as well as bring positive energy to practices and bouts. When bad days happen we know that our teammates will be there for us. In turn, we promise not to let negative feelings infiltrate our positive, focused derby space.
RESPONSIBLE
Our league is operated "for the skaters, by the skaters." Though each of us may have different jobs within the league, we know that the responsibility for any successes or failures of our league lies with EACH of us. We take our responsibility to our league and to each other very seriously. We also accept responsibility for representing the entire derby community in a positive way. Finally, we have responsibility for bettering our community.
COMMITTED
We each have many commitments in our lives; school, jobs, family, etc. At PRR, we respect each other’s commitments outside of derby, but we also recognize that operating our league takes commitment. As members of PRR, we commit to these values of the league, we commit to our responsibilities within the league, and we commit to the goals of the team.
ATHLETES
We believe that roller derby is an athletic sport, and vow to treat it as such. We believe that we who play roller derby are athletes, and vow to treat ourselves as such. This pertains to our sportsmanship, our health and fitness, and our mental preparedness for derby.
RESPECT
We respect and value ALL members of our league. We also promise to show respect to fans, community members, volunteers, NSOs, referees, and our competition at all times, when we are representing PRR.
ENCOURAGE
We recognize that none of us would be playing roller derby without having received some encouragement at some point. We vow to use words and actions that make others feel good about their successes, comforted and yet determined in their failures, and hopeful for what they might be able to accomplish.
