When Melissa, a long-time Y staffer, casually mentioned to a member that she had a wife and her own daughter was taking classes at the Y, the member broke down in tears.

"She cried at the front desk because she realized the Y would be okay with her son having two moms and her coaching his team," Melissa recalls. "I can't imagine wanting to do something with and for my daughter and thinking I wasn't able to because they weren't accepted in this program."

Happy Pride Month. The Y is For All.

Every practice, every game, every word of encouragement from a coach or teammate adds up to something more. The wins are great, but the life skills they pick up along the way are what really stick. Registration is open for youth basketball and more: https://go.ymcapkc.org/summer-youth-sports-2026

Over 200 YMCA lifeguards from Pierce and Kitsap counties came together to celebrate National Water Safety Month in May. Throughout the event we had an impactful presentation and team connection, all focused on one important goal: helping keep our communities safe around water. We’re proud to continue investing in water safety, strong teams, and the people who help create safer pools for all.

The Mel Korum Family YMCA is hosting a blood drive on Wednesday, June 3, from 9:00 AM–3:00 PM to help address the critical blood and platelet shortage across the Pacific Northwest.

Donations are especially needed right now, and every donation can make a lifesaving difference for patients in our community. If you're able, please schedule an appointment and help support local hospitals and families in need.

Youth basketball season is almost here, and it's best spent with friends. Sports at the Y give kids a place to play, move, and make the kind of memories that only happen when you're on a team together. Basketball and more at every Y. https://go.ymcapkc.org/summer-youth-sports-2026

Not sure if you should choose Summer Clinics or Y Camp ️It depends on your goals for summer β˜€οΈ

⚽ Summer Clinics = shorter bursts of fun with a focus on specific interests. Perfect for kids who want to get involved in their favorite activity.

πŸ•οΈ Y Camp & Specialty Camps = full day adventures filled with swimming, games, friendships, outdoor play and new experiences each week.

Either way, your kids are active, engaged & making memories while you conquer your summer schedule πŸ™Œ
