To our Champions family & surrounding community,
Champions Martial Arts Center opened its doors on October 2nd, 2006 at 4:00pm.
Over the past 14 years we’ve had the opportunity and privilege to serve our community.
From our first ever Kick Safe Event where we partnered with local law enforcement and King 5 News to help keep our kids/community safe to 14 Community Christmas Parties, 13 Summer Camps, countless Law Enforcement Workshops, Women's Self Defense Seminars, Anti-Bully Seminars, After School Programs, Fitness Programs and Food/Toy/Back To School Supply Drives for families in need.
1000’s of men, women and children have come through our doors to better themselves, enrich their lives and become better human beings. I have had an incredible honor to work with some of the most dedicated staff members, share my passion for martial arts, and be a contributing member to our community. Our students have gone on to graduate high school, go to college, become nurses, nuclear physicists, scholarship athletes, men and women who are serving our country, parents, and so much more. I am extremely proud of what we have done for our community and the legacy that we have created.
With that said, it is with VERY heavy hearts that Champions Martial Arts Center will be closing it’s doors effective August 1st, 2020. Unfortunately 48 hours ago, we were notified that our building owner is going in a different direction with the property and has declined to extend our lease, leaving CMAC homeless.
To our students and their families, I am sorry, to our staff, I am sorry. This is something that is out of my control and my heart breaks for every single member of our Champions family. Please know I fought as hard as I could, I put everything on the table, and gave more than I could to prevent this, however the building is not ours and the decision has been made. I cannot help but feel defeated about the current situation as so much went into building CMAC and making our community a better and safer place and now this road ends.
Where do we go from here is probably a question most of you are asking. The next two weeks will be business as usual, our instructors and myself will be teaching classes Monday through Thursday. We will also be conducting promotions during this time in all of our classes.
For those students who were on the brink of testing for their black belts, we will still make that happen. Our first set of private Black Belt tests will take place in the next two weeks. Going forward, regardless of location (whether it be in a park, at a fire station, in someone’s garage, ect) we WILL get everyone across the finish line and get you all the black belts that you’ve worked so hard for.
I understand that you may still have questions after reading this, and I am more than happy to assist you in any way I can and I will try to respond to everyone’s questions in a timely manner.
Thank you ALL again for the opportunity to have served you!
Respectfully,
Master Eric Shields

Concerned about the flu and all the news about Coronavirus? Here's what we're doing at the studio:
1. We'll be using Hand Sanitizer at the front door, and before entering the mat. 60% or greater alcohol content is recommended - ours has 70% and includes aloe to help with skin irritation.
2. We're wiping down touch surfaces with clorox wipes and sparying Lysol on everything, and allowing time to dry.
3. We're mopping all floors with a leave-on anti-viral cleaner several times a day.
4.We have a 100% symptom free policy, any student or coach exhibiting cold or flu symptoms of any kind ranging from fatigue, fever, cough, runny nose, etc., will not be allowed to attend class until they are symptom free. If a student attempts to attend class while exhibiting symptoms they will be sent home immediately based on the discretion of the head instructor without exception. If an instructor feels sick, we're sending them home or encouraging them to stay away. If a child appears to be sick (shows symptoms likes cough, runny nose, etc) or is warm/hot to the touch, we send them home immediately. If a child is out of school sick, they CAN NOT attend class that day (this includes parents, siblings and adult participants). We've always done these things, but we're digging in hard on them now. Please rest assured that we uphold an incredibly high degree of cleanliness on all surfaces within the academy and will continue to be diligent about doing so!
5. We are encouraging everyone to avoid touching their face, and we're teaching kids in class how to cough while covering the mouth/nose with the arm (like Batman).
6. After using the bathroom, everyone should wash their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, and hand-sanitizer is required before re-entering the mat.
7. The CDC does not recommend the use of masks, and we will not be using them or encouraging students/visitors to the studio to use them.
Thanks for doing your part to keep us all healthy and strong!

It's Never Too Late To Come Back To Jiu-Jitsu People quit jiu-jitsu for different reasons. Great article on Brazilian Jiujitsu and it’s healing powers.
A Spin on Healing Through Jiu Jitsu As I drive up I can see the women piling through the front door, gear in hand. I hear the music pumping loud bass filled beats that push through the cold evening air and fill the parking lot every time the door opens. Spin class is about to start. I take a deep breath, grab my Gi and head next door....
