Very interesting!
From what I understand Chaplin’s are carried head first.

This symbolizes the clergy’s role in life: during worship, they stand facing the people to lead, teach, and bless them. In death, they remain in that same pastoral position, “facing” their congregation even at their own funeral.

🇺🇸 Why the Flag Faces This Way: 3 Powerful Traditions You May Not Know

When a veteran is laid to rest, every detail carries meaning. Some of the most powerful traditions happen quietly—but they are filled with purpose and honor.

Here are three you may have noticed, but may not have known the meaning behind:

⭐ Why the Blue Field Is Always on the Left Shoulder

When the American flag is draped over a closed casket, the blue field of stars is placed over the veteran’s left shoulder, closest to the heart.

This isn’t random. It represents the flag as it would appear if the veteran were moving forward into battle—never retreating, always advancing with courage and honor.

👞 Why a Casket Is Always Moved Feet First

In funeral homes and places of worship, a casket is always moved feet first.

This tradition symbolizes that the deceased is not looking back, but moving forward into eternal rest. It also reflects deep respect—acknowledging the life they lived and the path now ahead.

🌅 Why Veterans Are Buried Facing West

Veterans are often laid to rest with their head to the West.

This comes from an old military tradition: a fallen soldier faces the rising sun in the East, symbolizing resurrection, honor, and the promise of a new day—an eternal formation of those who served.

These traditions are quiet, but they speak volumes.
They remind us that honor doesn’t end—it stands tall forever.

In-N-Out owner Lynsi Snyder continues to stand by her decision to include Bible verses on the company’s packaging, even after facing public criticism. Rather than viewing the backlash as a reason to retreat, she has been clear that the choice reflects deeply held personal and family convictions. In-N-Out is a privately owned, family-run business, and Snyder has emphasized that its values were never meant to shift with cultural pressure or public opinion.

For her, the verses are not a promotional strategy or an attempt to provoke controversy, but a quiet expression of faith that has been part of the brand for decades. Snyder has stated that staying true to her beliefs matters more than appeasing critics, even when that stance invites scrutiny. In an environment where many companies adjust their messaging to avoid conflict, she has chosen consistency over convenience. By maintaining the presence of Scripture on In-N-Out products, Snyder reinforces that the company’s identity is rooted in principle, tradition, and a willingness to stand by its values regardless of the response.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth says there’s a serious problem in today’s military that most people don’t see: the Chaplain Corps has been weakened.

In a video posted on Tuesday, he reminded people that chaplains were meant to be the spiritual and moral backbone of the military, going all the way back to George Washington in 1775. Washington himself said “the blessing and protection of heaven are at all times necessary, especially in times of public distress and danger.”

But Hegseth says that role has slowly been stripped away. Instead of being pastors and spiritual leaders, chaplains have been treated more like therapists. “Faith and virtue were traded for self-help and self-care,” he said.

He pointed to the Army’s Spiritual Fitness Guide as proof. In over 100 pages, it mentions God just once, feelings 11 times, and even “playfulness” nine times—while saying nothing about virtue. Meanwhile, about 82% of service members are religious.

Calling the guide “unacceptable and unserious,” Hegseth announced it’s being eliminated immediately. “Our chaplains are chaplains, not emotional support officers,” he said.

He also announced reforms to simplify the military’s faith and belief codes so chaplains can better serve troops. More changes are coming, with a goal of restoring spiritual health to the same level as mental and physical health.

Quoting the 1956 Chaplain’s Manual, he said, “The chaplain is the pastor and the shepherd of the souls entrusted to his care.” His message was clear: chaplains need freedom to lead boldly.

“We are going to make the Chaplain Corps great again,” he said, closing with, “Merry Christmas.”
